By the time Kayne finished speaking, his voice had softened, and his eyes were starting to fill with tears. Thomas was standing a little ways off, patiently waiting for me, not pushing me. I checked the time, my flight was almost boarding.

"Kayne…"

I called his name, and he looked up at me, hope in his eyes.

"Olivia, you're not really leaving, are you?"

I gently pried his fingers off the handle of the suitcase, one by one.

"Kayne, I don't love you anymore. Do you understand?"

His fingers froze, and for the first time, he couldn't bring himself to tighten his grip. I turned and walked away, my luggage in tow.

Once I was on the plane, I saw a news clip about Kayne. In the video, he was standing in the airport lobby, crying desperately.

"Olivia, please don't leave me."

Thomas, sitting next to me, glanced at the screen before turning to me.

"Do you want to reconsider?" he asked softly.

I shook my head, a sense of finality washing over me. I'd be a fool to trust Kayne again.

The plane was just about to take off, so I powered down my phone. As the aircraft ascended, I knew it was time to say goodbye to my past and embrace the future ahead.
