Chapter 10
Chapter 10
What Henry said in the elevator that day left me unsettled for a long time.
Even now when I think about it, I can still hear my heart racing.
But I was still hesitant.
At the hospital, I held the diagnosis report from the gynecology department.
I looked up and saw Henry's figure before me.
The name that was about to leave my lips was swallowed back.
He didn't see me. There was a girl beside him.
She was different from me.
Her smile was sweet. She was a bright and cheerful girl.
Unlike me, always quietly staying in the corner.
Henry looked at her intently, his eyes full of tenderness.
I just stared at them like this, like some pervert peeping into others' lives.
I don't know what the girl said to Henry, but he suddenly shot an icy glare at me.
As if he wanted to dig a hole in me with his eyes.
He had never looked at me like that before.
Not even before I broke up with Kevin.
"Scumbag, liar," I muttered.
Tears blurred my vision.
I took a deep breath and turned to leave.
Suddenly, a hand gripped my wrist.
"What liar? What scumbag?"
"Of course I'm talking about you!"
That cute girl ran over and took my hand, speaking up for me.
"Bro, who knows what you did to make my sister-in-law angry!"
"Sis, don't forgive him so easily."
I stood there stunned.
Sister?
Henry shoved what he was holding into her arms, pretending to be angry.
"Hurry up and go home. You talk too much."
His sister leaned in close to me, staring in amazement.
"Sis, my brother has liked you for so long. I finally get to meet you!"
Henry smacked her on the head.
The next second, Hannah slipped away like her feet were greased.
I was still thinking about what Hannah had just said, not noticing that Henry had walked to my side.
"Why are you at the hospital?"
"Are you feeling unwell? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Why didn't you call out to me earlier?"
Henry's questions came one after another, leaving me a bit dazed.
He suddenly snatched the report from my hand.
"Gynecology... You're not..."
He stared at me blankly, then his face lit up with joy.
Like an idiot, he crouched down in front of me and pressed close to my belly.
From the corner of my eye, I saw people looking our way.
I had no choice but to pull him up.
"I'm not pregnant!"
Henry: ...
In the car, Henry still looked disappointed.
He hadn't even looked closely at the report before jumping to conclusions about me being pregnant.
This expression made me think Henry was kind of cute for the first time.
We had just gotten out of the car when Kevin suddenly appeared.
Without a word, his fist smashed into Henry's face.
"Good friend?"
"Good friend my ass, you stole my girlfriend?"
Henry stumbled from the punch. I steadied him.
Kevin wasn't done. He stepped forward to continue the assault.
I stood in front of Henry.
"We've already broken up!" I shouted angrily.
I didn't know how many times I had to say it. Kevin always ignored the fact that we had broken up.
"It has nothing to do with him. I made the first move."
Kevin stood there in disbelief.
His eyes reddened.
He tried to reach for my hand again.
But Henry knocked him to the ground.
Henry had learned boxing since childhood. Kevin was no match for him.
"Sophia, please don't leave, okay?" Kevin pleaded from the ground.
Henry tilted his head, waiting for my answer.
"Sorry, I already have a boyfriend," I said.
I took Henry's hand and walked home.
"So, you're acknowledging me now?" he asked.
"If you're only saying this to make him angry because I got hit, I..."
So annoying.
I kissed Henry on the lips, cutting off his words.
The next second, he pressed on my neck and took control.
The temperature seemed to rise gradually.
When he let go, he still couldn't help asking:
"Do you really like me now?"
Henry asked cautiously, his eyes serious.
I realized then how much uncertainty I had caused him.
I looked at Henry earnestly.
Speaking each word clearly, I said:
"I like you."
"I, Sophia, like Henry."
The next second, he held me tightly in his arms.
...
Henry wanted to go out and fight again, but I held him back.
There was no need to get physical with people like that.
I called the police directly.
The police immediately took Kevin away on harassment charges.
He never came again after that.
I thought he was scared of the police.
Later I found out it was because of business dealings between the Gu and Yan families.
Kevin was ordered not to disturb me again, or he would be sent abroad directly.
