Falling for My Ex's Roommate

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

When Simon took me to meet his parents, to be honest, I was really nervous.

Mrs. Yates had started believing in Buddhism for some unknown reason a few years ago.

In recent years, she would unfailingly go to Puji Temple to offer the first incense of the year every year.

"Don't be nervous. My mom has become very kind since she started believing in Buddhism these past few years, and my dad always listens to my mom."

Simon seemed to notice my nervousness and kept reassuring me all the way.

But the closer we got, the more nervous I became.

"Simon... how about another day? I'm scared."

I tugged at his sleeve and stopped, not wanting to go any further.

"Lola." Simon shook his head helplessly, "Mom has already come out to greet us."

Sure enough, Mrs. Yates had already come down the steps and was walking towards our car.

I could only steel myself and follow Simon over.

"Mom, this is Lola."

"Hello, Mrs. Yates. I'm Lola White."

I hurriedly greeted her politely and handed over the gifts I had prepared.

Mrs. Yates smiled and accepted the gifts, but her gaze remained fixed on me.

Even after we entered the living room, Mrs. Yates was still staring at me.

Later, she even wanted to take me upstairs to the study.

I was a bit scared and couldn't help but look at Simon for help.

But Mrs. Yates held my hand, "Don't be afraid, Lola. Let's go upstairs and have a little private chat."

Then she turned back and teased Simon, "Don't be nervous either. Mom's not going to eat your wife."

My face instantly turned red, "Mrs. Yates..."

Mrs. Yates seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood and wouldn't let go of my hand.

"Mr. Yates, look, isn't Lola just as I said? Beautiful and adorable."

Mr. Yates was a very refined and gentle gentleman.

Hearing his wife's words, he nodded repeatedly, "Indeed, very beautiful and adorable. She looks like a good girl at first glance."

I was confused and a bit at a loss.

Mrs. Yates held my hand, her eyes slightly red:

"Lola, don't misunderstand. It sounds a bit absurd, but for years, I've been having the same dream over and over again."

"In the dream, Simon never married or started a family because of a girl."

"He passed away lonely in his forties."

"At first, his father and I didn't believe it, thinking it was just a dream."

"But later, other things in the dream came true one by one."

Mrs. Yates's tears kept falling, "All these years of being vegetarian and praying to Buddha, it was all for Simon."

"I was really worried that the end of that dream would come true."

"So I kept thinking, if that girl really existed, how wonderful it would be if she could be with Simon."

"Now seeing you, I know that all these years of being vegetarian and praying to Buddha weren't in vain."

"Lola, you and Simon must be good to each other, okay?"

My vision had long since blurred.

In this world, there are scumbags like my birth parents.

But there are also mothers who love their children so much, like Mrs. Yates.

How blessed am I to have met Simon and such a wonderful family.

Fulfilling all the regrets from that dream.

When we graduated from college, Simon and I got our marriage certificate.

The wedding was still in the planning stages.

I wanted it to be simple and low-key, but Simon and his parents wouldn't have it.

Just after getting the certificate, I moved into Simon's house.

When he went to the bathroom to shower.

I once again felt that pearl earring I had lost before under his pillow.

But this time, I didn't put it back. Instead, I put it on my own ear.

And, I only wore the earring.

When Simon came out of the shower, I was lying on his bed, covered tightly with his blanket, pretending to be asleep.

"Lola?"

A warm kiss gently fell on my cheek.
