I Set You Free

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Pressing down on her until she could barely breathe.

Seeing her return, the Parker parents both breathed sighs of relief.

But their words dealt her a fatal blow.

"Lily, since Jack has already met with an accident, let Ryan join the family from now on."

"Anyway, Jack is just a useless person. Keeping him at home is unlucky to look at."

"Pick a time, and go get your marriage certificate. The Parker family hasn't had such a joyous event in a long time. After the wedding is over, I'll go back and have the servants clean out Jack's room to be your bridal chamber!"

Lily stood frozen in place, looking at her parents' delighted faces.

For the first time, she felt a sense of disgust.

"What marriage certificate? Hasn't Ryan already married someone else abroad?"

Mrs. Parker glanced at her, chuckling lightly.

"Oh, you. If we didn't say that, how would you have believed?"

"It was all for Emma to enter the family. Ryan was willing to ruin his reputation to let the child be acknowledged by her ancestors. You insisted on clinging to that Jack, we had no choice."

"Anyway, that cripple is gone now. It's perfect. Ryan doesn't have to pretend anymore. From now on, you're a family. He went abroad before out of necessity. We don't blame him anymore."

Those few sentences nearly made Lily lose her mind.

Her parents' smug faces stabbed into her heart even more.

Thinking of how she had questioned Ryan about his wife abroad these past days,

Every time she mentioned his wife, Ryan always dodged the subject.

He never voluntarily talked about how they met.

There were no traces of his wife's existence on his social media either.

She was so stupid, only realizing the truth behind his lies now.

And for the sake of bringing Emma home, she had killed her husband-to-be...

Jack had no relatives or friends in the country.

He stayed here for her sake.

She had also promised to be Jack's support for the rest of his life.

To never betray their love.

But what had she done now?

Guilt and regret tugged at her heart.

After a long while, Lily spoke coldly:

"My husband will only be Jack."

"Whether he's alive or dead, I will only marry him."

"I don't care if Ryan is married or single."

"That night with him three years ago was a mistake. If I had known Emma would be born, I would never have gotten involved with him again!"

"Since this wedding is what you wanted, you can deal with the aftermath yourselves!"

"My husband, I will find him even if it costs me my life!"

With that, Lily turned to leave.

Before she could walk out of the hall,

Ryan quickly ran up in front of her.

Holding Emma in his arms.

Ryan cried out anxiously.

"Lily, Emma accidentally broke a glass just now. Her arm is all cut up. Where are you going? Can you take the child to the hospital first?"

Blood dripped down Emma's thin little arm.

At the same time, Lily's phone rang.

It was a call from her assistant.

She didn't look at Ryan again.

Only leaving behind one sentence:

"Take a taxi yourself. From now on, my parents will take care of the child. Don't interfere anymore."

Then she left the wedding venue.

As soon as she was out the door, she immediately answered her assistant's call.

"How is it? Have you found Jack?"

The assistant sighed deeply.

"Ms. Parker, I've searched everywhere I could. Now I only know that Mr. Carter stayed in a hotel for two nights before he left, and his boarding information at the airport. There's nothing else."

"You should go ask the rescue team. It's been so long, the body may have already been recovered..."

Before the assistant could finish, Lily hurriedly hung up the phone.

She didn't believe it.

She didn't believe Jack would leave her behind.

She believed even less that Jack would have been on that crashed flight.

She got in the car.

Speeding all the way, wanting to rush to the rescue team to inquire.
