My Son, Their Prop- A Mother's Wrath to Burn It All Down

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Returning to work after my leave, I was greeted by my supervisor.

As she signed off on my leave paperwork, she smiled at me.

"Looks like everything is okay now? You looked really pale that day."

I thanked her sincerely.

After all, it was her understanding that allowed me to take emergency leave and handle the paperwork later.

Back at my desk, I received a call from Vivien.

As expected, she said that when she tried to return the rented wedding dress and jewelry, the store refused to take them back.

"The store clerk said the custom-made wedding dress was damaged to the point that it couldn't be rented out again and was considered a write-off. As for Mom's jewelry, according to the contract, I need to compensate for them at their full price."

Hearing Vivien's words, I couldn't help but smile.

"So, what do you want to tell me? You were the one who wanted to rent the wedding dress, and it was your idea to rent Emeline's jewelry."

"Sandi, didn't you say you wanted to invest in my business? Can you give me the investment money now?"

I feigned a troubled tone.

"I mentioned before that all our savings, mine and Frederic's, are tied up in fixed deposits at the bank. We can't access them right now. Plus, Norris's daily expenses have drained a lot of our cash. We really don't have any spare money at the moment."

Vivien was silent, and after a moment, I could hear faint sobs on the other end of the line.

Raising an eyebrow, I offered my suggestion.

"Maybe you should discuss this with Emeline. Such a big issue shouldn't be your burden alone."

Vivien hung up, presumably leaving to confront Emeline.

That evening, when I got home, I found Frederic sitting on the couch, his brow furrowed.

As soon as he saw me, he asked, "Sandi, did you know Vivien and Mom had a big argument today? Vivien even took Mom's credit card, saying she need it for some compensation."

I looked at Frederic in shock, feigning confusion.

"An argument? I knew a bit about the compensation, but why would they fight over it?"

Frederic clasped his hands together and sighed deeply.

"I heard she got swindled by a client and now has to pay damages. I told her to report it to the police, but she refused. Do you know what's going on?"

I pulled out my phone and handed him the screenshots of the chat logs I had saved.

"Take a look at what her company has been up to. She's been running a scam. Report it to the police? She wouldn't dare. The first person they'd arrest would be her."

Frederic stared at the chat records in stunned silence, unable to speak for a long while.

It was late at night when Frederic received a call from the police station.

From the officer, he learned that Vivien's wedding planning business had been reported for fraud.

Although the amount involved was not significant, she still faced detention.

Her business license was revoked.

I watched through the window as Vivien sat there, despondent and defeated.

Justice would eventually catch up.

End.
