Chapter 36
"Ready to head back home?" Vincent asked, wrapping his arms around me.
I nodded against his chest, "You know....after seeing everything my sister and Athos are going through...I just want to tell you that I love you. And that I appreciate everything you do for me."
"And I appreciate it that you didn't give up on us," he replied.
"You said there was an issue back home...what was it?"
He released a breath and grabbed my bag, "An old friend of mine felt betrayed, apparently. He wants revenge."
"Well, he sounds dramatic."
"That's not the only thing..."
I frowned, "What?"
Vincent struggled to speak, "Brayden....was attacked in his room, along with his wife, Hazel. She's fine, physically, but Brayden is gone. We have no idea where he is and if he's going to live."
I froze, my heart fell at the news, "But...."
"We're going to find him."
"Gods, what if they kill him?" I whispered.
Vincent pulled me against his chest again, forgetting about our bags as they dropped to the floor. I cried quietly, even though Brayden is a pain in the ass, he's still a great friend. He protected me when Dominic couldn't, he would stick by me during my 'emotional' nights where I ate icecream.
"Do you know who took him?" I murmured.
He took a deep breath, "My ex—friend who wants revenge. He headed towards my uncle's territory."
"Will Athos kill him?"
"If he can catch him, but no doubt we'll be working beside him. I'm going to need his help."
I blew out a breath, my mind remaining on the thought of them hurting Brayden. Once we were all packed, we headed to the car, agreeing to tell his parents when we return home.
"Will you be okay?" I asked Seraphina as she grabbed her bags.
She smiled softly, "Yeah, I'll be fine. Looks like I'll be watching over this idiot."
Athos flipped her off as he walked past, grumbling about her being annoying. My sister rolled her eyes at him, but looked at me again.
"You have yourself a nice guy, don't be like mom and take him for granted," she warned. "You know how that marriage ended."
I nodded as I glanced at Vincent, my lips forming into a smile. "Don't worry, I'm going to aim to have him smiling every day."
"Good. If only I could get that lucky."
"You have Athos," I replied.
She frowned and looked at the moody Alpha, chuckling when he jumped away from a frog.
"He doesn't see me like that, he was talking about making some other girl his Luna. He's not searching for love and I can't force him to."
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Who is this girl?"
"Another Alpha's daughter. I have met her before, she's a nice girl and actually has self respect. She dreams of finding her mate, but I'm afraid for her. Her father is very greedy, if arranging a marriage between her and Athos means more power....then he'll make sure they stay together," she explained, still watching Athos.
We both remained silent as we watched the men go through their stuff. I admired Vincent's muscles, my core aching as I quickly crossed my legs. Vincent suddenly stiffened, his jaw clenched as his eyes flickered to mine. Before I could even blink, he was standing before me with a lustful look.
"Control your thoughts, princess," he whispered as he kissed my neck. "We have another hour in the car before I can take care of you."
I gulped, my legs shook as he grazed his canines along my collarbone. He then cupped my face and kissed me on the lips, showing me how needy he was.
"I haven't marked you yet..." he whispered. "I only gave you a little love bite."
I chuckled, "Well, we'll need to fix that, now won't we?"
"Guys, please, keep this rated E," Seraphina voiced.
We both laughed at the disgusted look on her face, finding it comical to finally see her blushing. Our laughter and my sister's obvious discomfort had Athos by her side, his eyebrows knitted together with puzzlement.
"They were being...horny," she whispered.
Athos chuckled, "Please, don't traumatize my warrior."
"She needs to quit being so innocent then," I teased.
Seraphina flashed me a playful glare, "You know what I did with Clyde. Trust me, I am far from innocent."
Athos' eyes darkened a little as he went rigid, before my sister could face him, he covered his lower region. Vincent and I bit back our laughter, knowing her words had an extremely large impact on him.
"You okay?" She asked with a slight frown.
Athos cleared his throat before nodding, "Uh, yeah...just...uh...let's go. I have a lot of work to get done when we return."
"He has some work alright," Vincent whispered in my ear.
I smirked, "Some hard work."
Athos snapped his attention to us, "Shut it before I shut your mouths for you."
I silently watched as Athos helped my sister into the SUV, his hands finding a home on her hips. Once she was in, he quickly got in and slammed the door shut. With a heavy feeling in my chest, I watched them drive off, leaving nothing but dust behind.
My sister was now in Athos' hands, under his leadership. I know she has a thick skin and can handle almost anything, but jealousy isn't one of those things. She becomes possessive of men that she gets close to, watching her with Athos, he was different. She wasn't just clinging onto him, she was falling in love with him. I silently prayed that this other girl won't mess anything up, that she'll actually help the two idiots get together. Gods know Athos is a bit oblivious at times.
"What is my girl thinking about?" Vincent murmured, pulling me against him.
We were finally alone in the back, no more Seraphina and Athos to watch our moments. I smiled and began kissing him on the jaw, my teeth nipping his skin every now and then. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled me against me as I laid down, just wanting him close. We eventually stopped to breathe, our eyes staring into each other.
"You're such a breathtaking sight," he whispered as he stroked my cheek.
I smiled, "You're not so bad yourself."
"Different from Dominic, huh?"
"Oh yeah, way different."
"If you two have sex back there, I swear to the gods, I will throw you both onto the highway," Rocco suddenly snapped.
We both burst out laughing, accidentally waking Julie up. Rocco groaned when she joined in, despite not knowing what was so funny.
"You guys will be the death of me," he groaned.
