3 Years by His Hospital Bed, He Chose Her

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Three years later, while I was teaching a sign language class, Olivia suddenly burst in, brandishing a knife. She held it to my throat, screaming that she wanted to see Ethan.

Once Ethan learned the truth, he severed all ties with Olivia. The things she had done quickly spread through their social circles.

The Sang family wasted no time issuing a statement disowning Olivia. In an instant, she went from being adored to falling from grace, her mental state spiraling further into instability.

I exchanged a quick glance with Jason, and he immediately ushered the children out of the room. Soon, it was just Olivia and me left in the classroom. Her emotions were all over the place, her voice shaking with rage. "Why? Why were you born into a wealthy family? Why does everyone like you?!"

I stayed calm, meeting her eyes. "Olivia, when you first came into our family, I felt sorry for you. I was happy to share everything with you. But over time, your greed just grew and grew."

Ethan arrived just then. He looked even thinner than I remembered. The moment he saw me in danger, his instincts kicked in. Without thinking, he lunged forward and grabbed Olivia's wrist, forcing the knife away from my throat.

"Rachel, run!" he shouted.

In the struggle, the knife went deeper, and Olivia's blood splattered across my face.

She slowly collapsed to the floor. They say that just before someone dies, they see the most important moments of their life. I don't know what Olivia saw, but a smile crossed her face as she fell.

Jason rushed over, gently covering my eyes with his hand to shield me from the sight. "Rachel, don't look. Don't be afraid."

Ethan was sentenced to life in prison for manslaughter. Before he was taken away, I went to see him one last time.

I showed him the ring on my finger, letting him know I was getting married.

His eyes darkened with a flash of pain, but it quickly vanished. He smiled bitterly. "Rachel, I wish you happiness. I'm sorry I let you down."

Tears welled up in his eyes. "I can't repay the debt of this life. In the next one, I swear I won't let go of your hand."

I looked at him, my expression filled with mockery. "Ethan, didn't you say your wife couldn't be mute?"

His lips trembled. "You… you remember."

"Yes," I replied coolly. "And when you saved me, I didn't feel grateful. I just thought you deserved it."

I paused, my voice ice cold. "Ethan, in this life, and the next, I'll stay as far away from you as possible."

(The End)
