Delete My Billionaire Husband

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Annabelle Whitmore dragged her exhausted body home, only to collapse the moment she stepped through the door, her vision going black.

Sebastian Kingsley returned late that night, reeking of alcohol. When he pushed the door open, he found Annabelle curled up on the couch, her cheeks flushed with an unnatural heat. The moment his fingers brushed her skin, the scorching temperature jolted him awake.

"Annabelle!"

He scooped her into his arms and rushed outside. The hospital corridor echoed with the sound of urgent footsteps in the dead of night.

When Annabelle woke, the sunset painted the sky outside her window. A nurse was changing her IV bag and gasped in relief. "Mrs. Kingsley, you're finally awake! Mr. Kingsley stayed by your side for two whole days—he only just left after a call from the office."

She shook her head weakly, her throat too dry to speak.

The room fell silent. Then, from the hallway, Sebastian's deep voice carried in—softer than she'd ever heard before.

"Don't worry, I'm on my way."

His footsteps faded. Summoning her strength, Annabelle pushed herself up and staggered after him, leaning against the wall for support.

Outside the maternity ward, she saw Sebastian carefully steadying Lillian Grayson. Lillian’s baby bump was just beginning to show, and the two of them were laughing together.

"Mrs. Kingsley?" Lillian feigned surprise. "What a coincidence."

Sebastian whipped around, releasing Lillian as if burned.

"Annabelle, I—" he stammered, panic in his voice. "Ms. Grayson felt dizzy, I was just—"

Annabelle’s gaze dropped to Lillian’s stomach, her nails digging into her palms.

"How far along?" she whispered.

Lillian stroked her belly smugly. "Three months. The father is thrilled—he promised to buy me a yacht." She smirked at Annabelle. "Oh, we’re dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant tonight. Care to join us?"

Sebastian’s face darkened. "Enough!" He pulled Annabelle close. "Let’s get you back to your room."

Lillian’s eyes welled up with fake tears. "I overstepped." But as she turned away, she shot Annabelle a triumphant smile.

Back home, Sebastian retreated to his study. Annabelle’s phone buzzed.

[Now you know why he’s always working late?]

[He says you’re as dull as wood—no passion at all.]

[Last night in my bed, he swore he’d divorce you once the baby’s born.]

Her grip on the phone turned bone-white.

"What are you looking at?" Sebastian’s arms wrapped around her from behind, his breath warm against her ear.

She locked the screen instantly—but not fast enough to hide his searching reflection in the glass.
