Chapter 1
Chapter 1
My boyfriend kissed the girl next door right in front of me at a party. "Two pieces of trash, perfect match!" I dumped Kevin right on the spot. But his friends laughed, betting I would crawl back. I did, only to kiss Kevin's best friend, Henry, slow and deliberate, watching fury darken Kevin's face.
Reckless night, too much wine, and I woke up in a hotel room with Henry.
I ran, but Henry wasn't the kind of man you could outrun.
"Don't tell me you don't remember," he murmured, tilting his head. "I might have recorded something."

At Kevin's birthday party, I pushed the door open and froze.
The crowd was egging him on, and Kevin had just picked Dare. There Rachel was, all shy in his arms, as he kissed her like it was no big deal.
"Kev, your girlfriend's gonna dump you if she sees this," someone joked.
Kevin just scoffed, like he didn't care. "She wouldn't dare."
Everyone around him nodded, agreeing. "Yeah, Sophia would never leave you."
"Exactly," another voice chimed in.
Hearing my name made my blood run cold. Without thinking, I walked right toward them.
The room went silent, and all eyes were on me and Kevin. He glanced at me, barely fazed, not even pulling away from Rachel.
"It's just a game," he said, acting like nothing was wrong.
I placed the cake I'd made on the table with a forced smile.
"Happy birthday. Looks like I came at the wrong time."
The eyes on me felt like daggers, but I kept my cool.
"Sophia, we were just playing. If anything was going on between Kevin and me, it would've happened a long time ago," Rachel said, trying to play it off.
Her words were just like Kevin's, nothing new, nothing honest. How typical. What a green tea bitch.
I smiled, but it wasn't a friendly one. My hand curled into a fist in my pocket. I grabbed a glass of wine and threw it at her, not even caring that it splashed all over her.
"Here's to you both, may you have a long, happy life together. A scumbag and his bitch, a perfect match."
I didn't wait for their reactions, turning to leave. But before I even made it to the door, Kevin yanked me back.
His grip was tight, and his tone was ice-cold. "Apologize to Rachel."
I stared him down, unflinching. "No. Let's break up."
Rachel, still dripping wet, looked at me with that smug, satisfied look. "Kevin, you should apologize. I don't mind."
Kevin chuckled, a dismissive sound that made my blood boil. He let go of my arm, shrugging it off. "Whatever. Don't come crawling back to me."
I wrenched myself free and walked straight to the door.
Right before I stepped outside, I heard something hit my back. Kevin's voice came from behind me, filled with disdain.
"Take your cake and get lost."
From inside the room, his friends were still laughing.
"How long this time?" one of them said.
"I'm giving her a month," another one said. "She looked pretty pissed."
"Nah, two weeks max. She'll be begging for forgiveness soon."
Kevin's voice cut through the chatter. "She'll be back in a few days. Watch."
I stopped dead in my tracks outside, humiliation flooding through me. I tried to hold it together, but hearing them talk about me like that made my stomach twist.
Then I heard a familiar chuckle nearby.
"Eavesdropping?"
I turned, surprised to see Henry, Kevin's best friend, with a smirk on his face.
Was he laughing at me too?
Before I could even say anything, the door behind me opened again, and someone called out.
"Henry?"
The person looked at us, clearly confused. But Henry didn't miss a beat. He grabbed my hand.
"I'm confessing," he said smoothly, pulling me away before anyone could react.
I didn't even have time to process what was happening before Henry led me away from that nightmare of a party.
