Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“Yeah, I’m in the dorm,” Simon said into the phone, his tone steady, but his eyes flicked over to me.
“You’re saying someone saw Lola at the dorm building?”
His gaze sharpened, and my stomach dropped.
“I—”
Before he could finish, panic surged in me.
I moved quickly, crossing the room to him. Without thinking, I slid onto his lap, my arms looping around his neck.
Simon went completely still, his entire body rigid beneath me.
“Tell him I’m not here,” I whispered, my lips brushing against his ear.
For a moment, he didn’t move, his hands hovering at his sides like he couldn’t decide whether to push me away or pull me closer.
But under my fingertips, I could feel the heat radiating off him, the subtle tremble in his muscles.
The vein on his neck pulsed visibly, and his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard.
He glanced at me, his dark eyes clouded with something I couldn’t quite place.
“No,” Simon said finally, his voice low and strained. “I’ve been here the whole time.”
“She’s not here. Maybe you should check with someone else.”
The second he hung up, he tossed the phone aside like it burned him.
His hands found my waist, long fingers curling against the fabric of the oversized hoodie I was wearing.
“Lola,” he said, his voice a rough whisper.
The air between us felt electric, charged with something I wasn’t sure how to handle.
I tried to lean back, but he pulled me closer, his grip firm and unrelenting.
And then his lips crashed into mine.
The kiss was hot, almost desperate, stealing the breath from my lungs.
“Don’t do this,” he murmured against my lips, his voice breaking with restraint. “Don’t tempt me. I don’t want to lose control. Not here.”
“Simon…”
I shifted slightly, trying to adjust, but the movement only seemed to push him closer to the edge.
His hands tightened on my waist, his breathing rough and uneven.
“If you don’t want to touch me,” I managed to whisper, my voice shaky, “then why are you kissing me?”
Simon’s forehead pressed against mine, his dark eyes closing as if he was battling something inside himself.
“You’re impossible,” he muttered, his voice barely audible.
“And do you even know how to kiss?” I teased, emboldened by the chaos between us. “My lips feel like they’re swollen already.”
“Lola.”
He said my name like a warning, but his grip softened.
His hands flexed against my sides, strong and sure, as if he was trying to ground himself.
“Don’t move,” he said finally, his voice dangerously soft.
“Why not?”
“Because I’ll lose control.”
But before I could respond, his lips were on mine again.
This time, the kiss was slower, more deliberate.
It wasn’t any less intense, though. It left me breathless, my fingers clutching at his shirt to keep myself steady.
Just as I thought he was calming down, Simon broke the kiss, his movements suddenly rougher, more urgent.
“Simon—” I gasped, my voice catching as I tried to pull back.
But he didn’t let me go.
Instead, he pressed his forehead to mine again, his breaths mingling with mine in the small, charged space between us.
“Lola,” he rasped, his voice thick with tension.
I felt his whole body tighten, heat radiating from him in waves.
And then, just like that, he groaned low in his throat and buried his face in the crook of my neck...
