He Killed My Grandmother for His First Love

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Half a month later, I heard about Phillip again. Court staff arrived at my apartment with a package.

"Ms. Holloway, here's the divorce agreement and compensation terms signed by Mr. Murray."

I glanced over the documents. Phillip had practically handed me half of the Murray family's assets.

"Mr. Murray asked me to tell you that you can accept these without worry," the staff member continued. "He said everything is clean."

It seemed Phillip knew exactly how many illegal dealings the Murray family had been involved in. Was this his attempt to atone for his sins? Frankly, I wasn't interested in his guilt or his redemption. But I accepted the compensation, it was what he owed me, and therefore, what I deserved.

The staff member handed me a subpoena. "Also, Mr. Murray asked me to give you this. He hopes you can attend in person."

I took the subpoena and was shocked to see that Phillip had issued a summons against himself, using my name.

I went to court that day. With Phillip's cooperation, the trial proceeded smoothly. As Phillip, handcuffed, was escorted past me by the staff, he gave me a faint, almost resigned smile.

"Being sent to prison by you... isn't so bad."

He took a few steps forward, then turned back to me.

"Charlee, will you... will you ever forgive me?"

I packed my things, grabbed my briefcase, and walked away from Phillip with an indifferent expression.

"Never."

In this world, there were shadows and darkness that sunlight couldn't reach. But that was fine. I would wield the law as my weapon and justice as my bullet. I would do everything in my power to eradicate the darkness in this world.
