He Thought I Cheated, Beat Me Until I Lost Our Baby, Then Learned It Was His

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

The blood between my legs was increasing.

I could feel this precious child slowly leaving me.

My heart was filled with indescribable sorrow.

If this call had come just one minute earlier, would my child have been saved?

But even now, Connor still didn't believe the child was his.

He crouched down and grabbed my hair, forcing me to look up.

"Emma, what did you give the people at the testing center? How much did you pay them to lie for you?"

I gave a bitter laugh, "Connor, do you think I have that kind of power? If you don't believe it, you can go for another test yourself."

He was about to say something when a group of people burst into my house.

The first to rush in was my dad.

When he saw my mom unconscious on the sofa and me lying in a pool of blood, rage consumed him.

My dad kicked Connor in the back, "You beast, what have you done?"

The other police officers who came were all my dad's students.

Seeing this scene, they all gasped.

Someone picked me up and placed me on the bed, then called 911.

My dad, like a madman, raised his fists and started beating Connor.

Connor howled in pain twice.

"Police brutality! Police brutality!" he shouted.

"Chief, stop!" One of my dad's junior officers tried to intervene.

Though he was supposedly breaking up the fight, he also kicked Connor twice.

"Let's take this beast away first. Sarah and Emma need to go to the hospital," he said.

Hearing he was going to be arrested, Connor protested, "On what grounds are you arresting me? This is a family matter. I was just teaching my cheating wife a lesson. What's wrong with that?"

These words made my dad want to kick him again.

Someone held my dad back from behind.

"Chief, calm down." He turned to Connor and said, "You'd better behave. You've beaten them so badly, why don't you just confess?"

"I haven't committed any crime," Connor raised his head defiantly. "This is just a family dispute. At most it's domestic violence, and that's not a crime."

It seemed Connor had researched this thoroughly before acting.

My heart grew colder.

The officer said coldly, "Who told you domestic violence isn't a crime? Severe cases can lead to prison time. What you've done is at least three years."

Connor panicked instantly, "What about her? She cheated on me, gave me a green hat, and nothing happens to her? I just raised my hand a bit, and I have to go to jail for three years?"

My dad asked him, "You say Emma cheated. I ask you, who did she cheat with?"

Outside, Connor argued heatedly with several people.

I heard a few sentences before feeling increasingly dizzy.

The strength in my body was gradually fading away.

My eyes were getting harder to keep open.

Someone noticed my condition and ran towards me.

"Take my child with you," I said.

After saying this, I closed my eyes.
