Chapter 11
Chapter 11
The next morning, I woke up in his arms.
I glanced at him awkwardly. He was still asleep.
Thankfully.
I didn't know how I had ended up cuddling up to him last night.
I carefully retreated from his embrace and got dressed to go out.
Jason was coming back to the country today, and I was going to welcome him back.
He was very happy to see me and even brought me a gift.
I remembered he liked spicy food, so I took him to a famous hot pot restaurant.
"Didn't you plan to develop your career there long-term? Why did you decide to come back?"
"I took on a big project, so I'm back for a while."
Jason thoughtfully pushed the dishes I liked towards me.
We chatted about what had been going on in our lives.
I didn't mention the reason I had returned to the country.
A deal to be someone's stand-in was too embarrassing to talk about.
Happy to see a familiar face, I had a couple of drinks with him.
It got late, and Jason was worried about me going back alone, so he insisted on sending me home.
Downstairs, he patted my shoulder.
"Even though you didn't drink much, have some honey water when you get back. It'll help you feel better tomorrow."
"Okay, thank you."
As the taxi drove away, I looked at the apartment building in front of me and sighed.
Every time I got involved with Lucas, it always came back to Emma.
Suddenly, I felt quite pathetic.
Abruptly, a figure rushed out of the building.
Lucas, dressed messily, was hurriedly walking towards his car.
Just as he opened the car door, he saw me and angrily closed it, walking towards me instead.
Even from a distance, I could feel his anger.
I instinctively wanted to step back, but he grabbed me.
"Where did you go? Do you know how many times I called you?"
Lucas's brows were furrowed, his grip on me painfully tight.
"My phone was on silent. I just had dinner with a friend."
"Which friend?"
"Jason. You've met him before."
"Why didn't you tell me? Don't you know how worried I was..."
He suddenly stopped, taking a deep breath to calm himself.
I knew he was probably worried that I had left and he couldn't find a replacement bride, causing him trouble.
I lowered my eyes and struggled a bit.
"I got it. I'll tell you next time. Let go of me first."
Lucas didn't let go and insisted on holding my hand as we went upstairs.
Walking in the door, I expressionlessly wanted to go back to my room, but he wouldn't let me.
"You left early in the morning and played with him all day. Had fun? What did you talk about?"
"What does it have to do with you?"
"I'm your fiancé. What do you think?" He said through gritted teeth.
Maybe because I had been drinking, I felt bolder.
I angrily retorted:
"It's all fake anyway."
I tried to walk around him to go rest in my room.
He suddenly reached out and irritably pinned me against the wall.
"What, you meet him and start getting impatient with me?"
Lucas lowered his eyes to stare at me, his gaze filled with annoyance.
I didn't understand. I wasn't Emma, so why did he care so much?
I had already lost my self-respect. I didn't want to lose my freedom too.
I struggled a bit, but he pressed closer, trapping me in his arms.
"Lucas, I really dislike you acting like this!"
"Dislike?"
He narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Then I don't mind making you dislike me even more!"
He lowered his head and fiercely bit my lip.
There was no gentleness at all, as if he deliberately wanted to hurt me.
Tears came to my eyes, but he still wouldn't let me go.
Finally, seeing that I couldn't breathe, he released me.
"Don't drink with other men in the future.
"Otherwise, next time won't be so simple."
"..."
Shameless!
