I Plan My Death While He Bangs the Nanny

Chapter 7 No More Heartache

Chapter 7 No More Heartache

Ethan Foster was here too.

His expression was complicated.

"Sophia, a dog that bites is no good. I'll bring you a new one tomorrow, one that's better behaved and more obedient."

Better behaved? More obedient?

Sophia Williams only knew that this dog was timid and cowardly, only approaching people when they reached out, whimpering when stepped on but never daring to bite.

She didn't speak, but her eyes reddened.

Ethan's heart twisted violently.

"Sophia..."

He reached for her, but she stepped back.

Sophia took off her coat, wrapped the dog in it, and carried it out of the yard.

Ethan moved to follow, but Emily Johnson clung to him.

He snapped, "Enough! Who told you to lay a hand on it?"

Emily pouted. "I was just worried about you. I didn't want anything to happen to you. Mrs. Foster is so selfish, bringing a dog home. She doesn't care about you at all."

Ethan fell silent, as if silently agreeing.

Sophia wanted to laugh.

It was Ethan who had given her the dog, yet now she was the selfish one who didn't care about him.

Aimless, she eventually reached the beach.

In ten days, she would "die" here. So she buried the dog by the shore.

She hoped that in death, it would find freedom, just like her.

When Ethan found her, Sophia was still staring blankly at the sea.

Her frail figure looked unbearably lonely in the cold wind, and his chest ached.

He wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Sophia, come home with me."

Her body was ice-cold, lifeless. He gripped her hands tightly, desperate to warm her back to life.

Sophia didn't move, her gaze fixed on the endless horizon, longing in her eyes.

"It's beautiful here, isn't it? Noah would have loved it."

Ethan's heart clenched violently.

Noah was the name of their lost child, and the name she had given the dog.

Panic surged in him, and he held her tighter.

"But it's too vast here. You could lose your way home."

Sophia smiled.

"Why go home when this place is so perfect?"

Ethan suddenly tightened his grip on her hand. For some reason, dread filled him, a sense that she was slipping away.

"Do you remember the promise you made to me when we got married?"

A flicker of unease crossed his face.

"If you betray me, I'll make sure you never find me again, Ethan Foster. I mean it."

That night, Sophia fell gravely ill.

Ethan refused to leave her side, neglecting work to care for her.

Emily watched bitterly, trying to interfere, but Ethan stopped her.

"Emily, remember our agreement. You'll always be the mistress. Sophia is my wife. If you cross the line again, I won't forgive you."

Emily paled but nodded. "Understood. I won't cause trouble."

Ethan bought her a villa and moved her there to rest during her pregnancy.

But Sophia knew, he visited her every day.

Emily posted updates only she could see.

["A villa worth millions, who knew I'd be treated like a princess too?"]

["Craving something sour, he dropped everything to pick fresh cranberries himself. So sweet."]

["He cooked for me, fed me… and then got handsy. Naughty."]

Each photo dripped with saccharine romance.

Then Emily called.

Amid the flirty laughter, Sophia quietly turned off her phone.

It didn't matter anymore.

She was leaving.

And she wouldn't let any of this hurt her again.
