I Raised My Husband's Love Child

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Back then, Rosie was practically bouncing with excitement, pacing the hallway, her hands nervously wringing. As soon as she found out I'd had a son, she rushed over, grabbing the baby with a wide grin on her face. Her eyes lit up, practically shining with joy.

The nurse, unable to hold back a chuckle, teased, "Who are you to him? You're acting even more excited than the mother!"

Rosie's face flushed red, and she quickly stumbled over her words when she saw my silence.

"Daphne, I just couldn't help it! Kian's so adorable, I had to give him a kiss. You're not mad, right?"

I gave her a calm smile. "Of course not. I'm so busy with work, I sometimes neglect my family. I'm grateful you're here to help with Kian."

Both Rosie and Stephen visibly relaxed at my words.

My son ran up to me, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Mom, are you going to the office today, or coming with Dad and me to kindergarten?"

I patted his head and asked, "What does Kian want Mommy to do?"

Without hesitation, he said, "I want Mommy to go to work. Aunt Rosie can take Dad and me to kindergarten!"

Before Kian could say more, Stephen quickly pulled him into his arms. "Sweetheart, Kian doesn't want to distract you. Last time, he even told me not to bother you because you're working so hard."

Rosie nodded, adding, "Kian's such a thoughtful kid. Only someone as amazing as you, Daphne, could raise him."

I smiled and said, "Alright, let's do as Kian says."

Kian jumped up, grabbing Rosie and Stephen's hands, and dragged them out the door. I watched their little "family of three," then let myself smile faintly before heading back to my study to finish my work.

Maybe they thought I was blind to their games, that I wouldn't catch on. But Rosie grew bolder by the day. At first, she'd sneak around when I was at work, but soon enough, even when I was home, she'd find excuses to visit.

"Daphne, I've been learning to cook. I wanted to make something special to thank you."

"Daphne, I just came back from the countryside with some local treats for you."

"Daphne, I've quit my job to start a business, but I need some startup funds. Could you help?"

I knew exactly why she was really visiting, but I never turned her away. Each time, I greeted her politely and helped with whatever she needed.

Stephen loved it. Every time she came over, he'd smile smugly. Sometimes, he'd even flirt with her right in front of me, exchanging knowing glances and smiles.

And my son? He became more attached to Rosie, even buying her house slippers so she could visit anytime.

This continued until the day of my son's college entrance exam results.

When Rosie showed up early that morning to wait with us, we saw my son's score. It was shockingly low. Stephen's face twisted with anger.

"How could you score this poorly?" he snapped.

But my son remained unfazed, his face unreadable.
