I Raised My Husband's Love Child

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

After politely declining all the offers for help and advice, I quietly made my way home. The moment I stepped inside, I was met with the sight of Rosie moving her things into the house, while Stephen and Kian were casually tossing my belongings out like they were garbage.

When Stephen spotted me, he lifted his chin with a look of pure arrogance and disdain.

"Daphne, this house now belongs to Kian, and we're divorced. Take your crap and get out of here. Stop getting in the way of our family reunion."

His once charming demeanor had completely disappeared, replaced by open disgust, as if he had been tolerating my presence for far too long. Kian stood beside him, equally condescending.

"To live your life and end up like this, you really are a failure," Kian sneered.

He then pulled two hundred dollars out of his wallet and threw it on the ground in front of me.

"This is your support for the month. Take the money and leave. Don't make our floors dirty on your way out!"

The respect my son once had for me was now replaced by utter contempt. I didn't say a word. I simply picked up the money, gathered my things, and walked out.

I moved into a small, rundown apartment, dim, cramped, and nearly empty. But it was mine. Alone, I lived a simple and frugal life. My meals were modest: plain porridge with pickled vegetables or steamed buns with hot water. At the end of the month, I still had a little bit of the two hundred dollars left. I splurged a bit, buying some meat and chili peppers to make a stir-fry. The aroma filled the small room, warm and satisfying.

Just as I was about to dig in, there was a knock at the door. I opened it to find Stephen, Rosie, and Kian standing there, looking down at me with judgmental eyes.

"This dump, how does anyone even live here?" Rosie sneered. "There's not even a good spot to hang yourself. A coffin would be bigger than this place."

Stephen wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Daphne, you have arms and legs. Why don't you find a job that offers room and board? You used to be the richest woman in the city, and now you're holed up in this rat hole. Isn't this beneath you?"

"Even the bathroom in our house is bigger than this. How can you stand living here?" he added with a scoff.

I ignored their insults and calmly continued eating my stir-fried meat and chili peppers.

Kian, noticing the dish, narrowed his eyes and commented, "Wow, you're eating meat? Giving you two hundred dollars a month seems like too much." He turned to Rosie with a sarcastic grin. "Maybe we should cut her allowance. She needs to learn how hard it is to earn money these days."

Rosie nodded in agreement. "My son is absolutely right."

Stephen waved them off dismissively, clearly annoyed. "Forget it. Two hundred dollars doesn't even cover the cost of my socks. Consider it charity, just enough to keep her from starving. Otherwise, the online trolls will start attacking us again."

He muttered angrily, "Those idiots. It's none of their business, yet they flood my inbox with insults like I desecrated their ancestors' graves."

Kian laughed, clearly unfazed by the backlash. "Don't worry, Dad. I'm about to marry Grace. Once I've secured her family's fortune, we won't have to care about those online pests anymore. You and Mom can just sit back and enjoy the good life."

Stephen's mood seemed to lift at this. "You're right! Grace is the real deal, a self-made powerhouse. Her wealth and influence are bigger than our entire Greenwood Corp!"

"Son, you're incredible! Better than I ever was. Winning over such an accomplished woman is no small feat," Stephen said, clearly proud.

The day after I transferred all my assets to Kian, they wasted no time renaming Stellar Sync Group to Greenwood Corp.
