My Professional Partner and My Husband Are Kissing

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I returned home a billionaire's daughter, only to find my husband in bed with his mistress as our son guarded their door. "Aunt Sophie's loaded," Jake spat, blocking me. "She's saving Dad! You'll ruin everything!"

His words hit me like a slap to the face. I was rooted in shock, unable to process it. Sophie Anderson, Jason's business partner for three years, had always been so sweet and bubbly with me. Never in a million years did I imagine they were having an affair behind my back.

Jason and I had been married for ten years. He had always been so meticulous about keeping me in the loop. Cheating? It didn't make sense.

I was reeling, but all I wanted was to burst through that door and confront whatever was going on. But Jake was standing there, guarding the door like his life depended on it.

"Jake, move!" I demanded.

Desperate, I tried to push him aside, but the door swung open. Jake tumbled forward, and I collided with it, pain shooting through my forehead.

"Have you lost your mind, Emily?" Jason's voice roared from inside. I looked up, and there she was, Sophie, cradling my sobbing son, comforting him.

"Hands off him!" I screamed, charging at Sophie. But before I could reach her, Jason shoved me back.

"Well, since you're here, let's talk about divorce," he said coldly. "I'll leave you the house and the car, but Jake stays with me."

My world tilted. Just back from a trip, and he was already talking divorce? It hit me like a ton of bricks that he was serious.

"You're out of your mind! Jake's my son! I'm not just letting him go!" I yelled, horrified. "What about our baby?" I added, my hand instinctively touching my belly.

Jason glanced at my stomach with a dismissive scoff. "Abort it."

The words sliced through me. Without thinking, I slapped him hard across the face, my voice trembling. "You monster!"

Jason didn't flinch, but Sophie, beside herself with concern, hurried to cradle his face. She turned on me, her anger flaring. "Jason's over you. Why keep hanging on? If the settlement's not enough for you, how about I throw in an extra million? Would that do?"

"You're selfish," she sneered. "I'm the tycoon's daughter. I can bail him out. What are you? Just a plain Jane housewife."

Her words froze me in place. Sophie Anderson was the tycoon's daughter? Then who the hell was I, the daughter they just claimed?

Dazed, I barely registered Jason grabbing his bag and pulling Jake by the hand, heading for the door with Sophie right behind him.

"You can leave, but my son stays with me," Jason said, his voice cold and final.

Jake was my flesh and blood. The child I raised. How could I trust them to take care of him after everything they'd just pulled? Using him to block the door? How could I?

Jason smirked, mockingly.

Behind him, my son looked at me with disdain. "I don't want to be with you. Aunt Sophie gets me everything I want. You're just stingy!" he spat.

Those words shattered me. The man I loved had betrayed me. And my own son? He despised me.

Rage bubbled up, but the pain in my abdomen hit like a punch to the gut.

"Get out! All of you, just get out!" I screamed, grabbing the cups off the coffee table and throwing them at their retreating backs.
