My Son, Their Prop- A Mother's Wrath to Burn It All Down

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

When the police arrived, the house had been a mess.I had smashed all the things to pieces due to anger. The woman holding Norris tried to slip away, but I blocked her path.I hefted the stool in my hand, and gave her a warning.

"Take another step, and I'll hit you with this!"

Norris was crying in her arms, and I felt so sorry for him. With so many strangers around him, he must have been scared.Someone had called the police while I was breaking things.I laughed bitterly. If they didn't call the police, I would.Vivien was nowhere to be found, and Frederic had held back the elderly woman who tried to hit me while I was smashing things. He was at a loss for what to do.I knew Frederic had always loved his sister.Vivien had been working away for years, and some of her earnings had supported Frederic's education. But I never expected him to indulge her so much in this madness. The police surveyed the scene and enquired.

"Where are the kidnappers?"

A bystander pointed at me.

"Officer, it's her! Just look around. She broke all these things!"

Frederic stepped in front of me, explaining, "No, no, it's a misunderstanding. We're not kidnappers!"The elderly woman, trembling with rage, pointed at the damaged furniture.

"Officer, she broke everything! She must pay for it!"

The officer looked at her.

"Are you the homeowner? Come with us to the station. We need to take everyone involved."

Two officers approached me.I pointed at the anxious woman nearby.

"Officer, they took my son. That's why I broke their things."

The officers exchanged looks, realizing it was more serious than they thought. They were expecting a simple disturbance, not a potential abduction. The lead officer commanded,"Take everyone to the station!"At the station, Frederic and I sat together, and Vivien was also brought in.The officer pointed to the child in the woman's arms and asked,"How can you prove this is your child?"I pulled out my phone.I showed him our marriage certificate, Norris's birth certificate, our family registry, and various photos. The officer examined them carefully, then glared at the elderly woman and the woman holding Norris.

"Be honest with me. What's going on?"

I took Norris from the woman's arms.Holding him in my arms calmed me slightly. He had fallen asleep. But I didn't want to waste any more time here.Norris would be hungry soon and he needed to eat something. The woman was uneasy and looked at Vivien for help. The old lady suddenly stood up, pointing at Vivien.

"Officer, it's her! She brought the child here!"

I looked at the officer and urged them.

"Officer, my husband is here. He can handle any paperwork. I need to take my son home now."

The officer nodded, and I rushed out, heading straight to the country house with Norris.I fed him with baby food after he woke up, and he seemed to be calm when he saw me around.I sat by his bed, holding his hand, and my heart filled with guilt.Emeline arrived home later. She sighed in relief upon hearing Norris was alright. But then she remembered something and glared at me.

"How could you wreck their house and get Vivien detained? Why couldn't you handle this peacefully?"

She must have talked to Frederic.

"Mom! Vivien lent Norris for a birthday party, which is deceitful enough. They didn't take good care of him! It's lucky that he's fine."

Emeline remained defiant.

"Anyway, he is fine now! Frederic told me you're pressing charges against that family."

I stayed silent. Yes, I intended to sue them.

"If you press charges, they'll hold Vivien responsible, and she'll have to pay for the damages! I already talked to Frederic. Let's settle this peacefully. They won't pursue charges against Vivien or demand compensation. Let's just move on from this."
