Chapter2
Chapter2
I could feel eyes on me, and I wondered ifthey were Carters eyes. It made me dance looser, and with more energy. It was also filling me with anticipation. Would he approach mein the VIP if he recognized me? Would he want to talk tome, to at least say hi? I looked upstairs, and I could see him staring down at me. Our eyes had locked and I couldn’t look away, almost a minute must have passed and Lauren yanked at my arm, pointing at two guys that were heading our way.
Carter pov
“Carter, I just saw Jack walkin ifyou want to get to business” Tommy said as he approached me, standing beside me to look at the crowd. I couldn’t believe it was Avery. I couldn’t believe she was in California at the same club as me, and god had she grownup. That dress had everyone staring at her long legs, and I wanted to pull her longhair as I ripped her out ofthat dress.
I’ll never forget when I took her innocence, and how I felt with her the summer before her senior year of highschool.
She was so innocent and sweet then, she had no idea how beautiful she was, and how much I had cared about her. It was a time in my life when I wanted to forget my father, and I was leading down a path with the gang I couldn’t bring her down with me.
I walked into a room behind a mirrored wall, realizing that the wall was double sided, and I could see the booths. I was counting the money set on a table in front of me, and I kept looking up to make sure Tommy was keeping watch. It was all there, I loaded it into a bag, and told Tommy to get out of herewith it. He put it in his waist and quickly made his way out, with two ofour guys next to him.
I watched as Avery swayed through the VIP with her friends, and she resumed her seat at a booth near where I was standing. I watched her drink, smile, and laugh with her friends, and then a group ofguys walked up. I saw the one had his eyes on her, and he took the seat next to her. I tensed, feeling enraged, and I knew I had to have her right then.
“Let’s do more shots Kate” Lauren yelled. I was feeling tense because the guy from the dancefloor was sitting next to me. I think he said his name was Sean, but I didn’t care. I was scanning the room looking for Carter. We downed another round of shots and I put the glass on the table, and started digging through my clutch to check my phone. The laughter and conversation at our booth stopped so I looked up, and there was Carter staring at me.
Avery pov
His brown hair was kept longer, curling around his ears, and matched his face framing beard. His blue eyes were staring into me, and I didn’t know what to say. He obviously recognized it was me, and he was silently telling me to get up. “Avery” he said, like a command. I got up and walked out ofthe booth, everyone was staring at us.
He put his hand on my lower back and escorted me to the bar area, his hand sending electricity through me. I tried to be graceful on my heels, I tried to act confident. He ordered a drink for himself and looked at me. “Vodka cranberry” I said. He stared at me, studying my face, and my body from head to toe. I was blushing from his hungry eyes on me.
“My have you grown” he said, his mouth curving into a grin. I knew the look on his face, and what was going through his mind. But for some reason, I wanted it more than him. “It’s been along time” I agreed, touching his arm with my hand. I was never this forward with a man, what had come over me?
