Chapter 10 The Award Ceremony Concludes Successfully

To celebrate Emily Carter's win, Vincent Montgomery and Daniel Harrison took her on a shopping getaway.

On the way to their destination, Emily brought up the phone call during the ceremony.

"Did my sister call you? Right before I went onstage, I thought I heard her name."

"Don't mind her," Vincent said coldly. "She's trying the same old trick—starting a fire to get attention."

"Don't say that, Vincent," Emily protested softly. "She just wants you to notice her. She doesn't mean any harm."

"It's my fault. If you two weren't spending time with me, she wouldn't have resorted to such an outrageous plan..."

"Maybe we should go check on her."

"If she yells at me, I'll just pretend not to hear it."

Her eyes glistened like a wronged, docile kitten.

Vincent pulled her into his arms, his voice tender. "Emily, you're too kind. That's why she keeps taking advantage of you."

Daniel nodded in agreement. "Don't blame yourself. She's the one who's selfish and cruel."

Just then, Daniel's phone rang.

The caller claimed to be a police officer from the capital, asking if he was related to Linda Harrison.

Before Daniel could respond, Vincent scoffed. "The police? Linda's bold enough to fake a police call now?"

"My badge number is 010xxxx. We received a report early this morning—a fire broke out in a villa in the southern district."

"Surveillance footage shows Ms. Harrison entered the villa but never came out before it was completely destroyed."

"Due to severe damage, we've only recovered a few personal items, likely belonging to her."

Vincent's expression turned even more mocking. "Faking her death? Tell Linda this act won't work. She should give up."

He snatched Daniel's phone and blocked the number.

A troublemaker like Linda wouldn't die so easily.
