Chapter 26 Thank You for Coming into My Life

Chapter 26 Thank You for Coming into My Life

Olivia Smith handled Isabella Thompson's funeral arrangements.

Though she had disliked Isabella, at Sophia Holt's urging, she still chose a decent burial plot for her.

"I hope you don't repeat your mistakes in your next life."

With those words, Olivia left.

Six months later, Sophia gave birth to a baby boy.

She recovered quickly and soon returned to work, becoming a star who thrived in both career and love.

The reason she visited Isabella's grave was because another girl from their hometown had gained admission to a prestigious university—her cousin.

Just like Isabella years ago, this cousin openly praised Sophia in front of reporters. But unlike before, Sophia didn't continue to support her. Instead, she paid for her college tuition in full and cut ties.

At the cemetery, Sophia discovered that Ethan Vanderbilt was buried right beside Isabella.

She hadn't thought of him in a long time, but the moment she saw his photo on the tombstone, buried memories resurfaced.

The photo was taken when Ethan had just started working at Vanderbilt Corp., and she had accompanied him to the shoot.

The young man was full of ambition, his youthful face reflecting three parts ambition and seven parts love—for Sophia, standing outside the frame.

He never liked smiling in photos, claiming it was foolish to show emotion to a lifeless lens.

Later, after they married, whether in interviews or paparazzi shots, the man in the photos always wore an unmistakable smile, his affection impossible to hide.

Sophia took the daisies from her assistant and placed them on the cold tombstone.

Daisies symbolized farewell to the past.

In her heart, she whispered, Ethan, I don't hate you anymore. I hope in your next life, you won't hurt the one you love.

After finishing promotions for her second major film, Sophia finally took a long vacation.

Christopher Holt shamelessly dumped his company responsibilities on his sister and whisked Sophia away on a global tour.

They basked in the sun along the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy and lost themselves in the romance of Positano.

Three years into their marriage, Christopher's love for her had only grown deeper.

After a shower, Sophia suddenly asked the man holding her, "Honey, do you want another baby?"

He perked up instantly. "Are you pregnant? But I've been so careful with protection!"

As for childbirth, he never wanted to put Sophia through that pain again.

"I just think our son might be lonely. I'd like to give him a sibling."

It took a mix of persuasion and coaxing before Christopher finally pinned her beneath him.

He kissed the love marks on her collarbone. "Thank you, my love, for giving me the chance to cherish you."

Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling. "And thank you for never giving up on loving me."

With her second pregnancy, Sophia became the most protected person in the Holt household—even the slightest bump warranted a call to the family doctor.

One day, on a whim, she brought a homemade lunchbox to Christopher's office.

Just as she reached the building, she spotted Isabella's cousin—a fresh graduate in a sleek blazer, short skirt, and black stockings—there to apply for a job at Holt Corp.

The girl was sweet and charming, her voice dripping with a sugary tone.

The déjà vu hit Sophia like a wave, freezing her in place, her hands and feet turning cold.

Christopher's personal assistant rushed to explain.

"Madam, this girl claimed to be a student you sponsored. She brought her resume and demanded to see the CEO, even calling him brother-in-law like it was nothing."

"Honestly, what's wrong with her? CEO Holt is swamped—he can't just meet anyone who walks in. She's a college graduate, yet instead of focusing on improving herself, she's looking for shortcuts. Well, the CEO had her escorted out immediately."

See? The same situation, but different people make different choices.

So, Ethan, what excuse did you really have back then?

As Sophia reached the elevator, Christopher burst through the doors.

"Why did you come all the way here? My assistant handles my meals—it's not worth the trip!"

Sophia didn't answer. She just clung to him tightly, repeating I love you over and over.

Christopher froze, then cautiously confessed his secret.

"Sweetheart, the identity erasure service you used back then… I owned it."

Sophia's jaw dropped.

No wonder the company had vanished without a trace afterward.

She laughed and smacked his arm in mock anger.

Christopher, thank you for overcoming every obstacle to come into my life.
