In the previous life, they had the same demands. I thought the bride price was too high and didn't agree.
But seeing Lila, a young girl, pregnant with our family's child before graduating.
Since we were in the wrong, I didn't say much, gritted my teeth, and agreed.
But now, I don't even want my son, so why would I care about a grandchild!
I just ate, not responding, my husband wanted to speak but I pinched him.
"What do you mean? You disagree?"
"Fine, Lila, let's leave, we'll get the child aborted right away."
"There are plenty of options out there, why settle for your family?"
"Look at your shabby selves! Your son missed out on my daughter; he might stay single for life!"
"I agree, ma'am, these are not issues."
"My parents are honest and not good with words, but they always said they prepared the bride price and house for me."
"Don't worry, everything you said is fine, right, mom?"
James looked at me intently.
I cleared my throat. "We've prepared the money for our son's marriage long ago."
"But he spent it all during college, costing us over thirty thousand."
"This money was originally meant for his bride price."
The other side looked disdainful, "Isn't it a parent's duty to pay for college? What, now pretending to be poor to freeload?"
"I'm telling you, not a chance!"
I shook my head, "Of course not freeloading, a normal student wouldn’t spend so much during college."
"I checked where the money went, your son and daughter used quite a bit."
James immediately stood up, face flushed, "Mom, what are you doing? Are you trying to ruin my future?"
Lila's mom jumped up, "That's normal dating expenses, sue us if you dare!"
"If you don't, I'll sue your son for forcing my daughter."
"You want to tear faces, fine, wait for the court summons!"
She stood up, pulling crying Lila away.
James panicked, "No, mom, she's just not in a good state today, she's just venting."
"We agree to your conditions, the bride price and house my parents have prepared."
"We don't need the bride price, go find whoever you like, we're going to the hospital to get the child aborted now!"
