Juvie is about survival and even though I walked in innocent, that's not how I walked out. I had done things that I never wanted to do but didn't have a choice. I don't think they liked the fact I was getting close to Bryson either, but in my eyes, he hadn't done anything to me. He was a kid too and while he was told what was happening he couldn't do anything. His parents were a different matter, I didn't trust them. Yes, I met them for dinner but I was not going to open up to them and Bryson had kept my location from all of the family as well as where I was going to uni. At no time had he betrayed me and that meant a lot to me.
Bryson had also taken me to get my learners in the 2 weeks saying I had to learn to drive so I could get a car for my 18th birthday. He failed to realise that there was no way I would allow my family to buy me a car because I didn't want to owe them a thing. I didn't want them to think they could buy their way into my life. Jenny had informed me that the state was stalling the case against them for wrongful imprisonment and the juvenile detention centre wanted to settle out of court. They were making an offer within the next week and then we could make a counteroffer.
I trusted Jenny so I knew she would let me know what was the best thing to do. I didn't know if I was strong enough to go to any more court cases. I just wanted to move forward and focus on my freedom from my past. I was also told I had to appear in the criminal cases as a witness against Harry and Mr Black. The police had been in contact for statements from me and I was the star witness in the case against Harry. The criminal cases would be heard in the new year and would likely run over several days. I just hoped I didn't miss uni because of them.
I'm currently lying in my bed cuddled up to Harley. Our friends are in the room as well. We are watching a movie. What movie? I couldn't tell because I was worrying about tomorrow. My brothers and father were going to be there as well as Sian. Sian and I never had a great relationship even before I went to juvie. She saw me as a competition even though she was 10 years older than me. I was worried about the fact that anything could happen tomorrow with my family. We didn't have anyone setting boundaries or going to stop the session if shit went down.
"You right Tilly?" Asked Harley. "Just thinking about tomorrow, no one is there to act as a buffer and I don't want to ruin Bryson's birthday. Maybe we shouldn't go" I replied. Bryson had invited me and Harley and said I could bring my mates as well. Levi was coming with us but Tommy and Brad were hanging with some chicks they had met. Jas was also going to be there. Jason was one of Bryson's mates I had met and he was a nice enough guy. Bryson and Jas had attended high school together and were now at uni studying the same thing. They planned to go into business together.
"Tilly you don't have to go, Levi and I will be there with you though" Harley replied before kissing my forehead. I smiled and said, "Bryson would kick my arse if we don't show up. And he would come here and drag us there kicking and screaming". Harley laughed before we snuggled together to finish watching the movie. Just as I got comfortable Levi jumped on the bed and said "Harley I need to see your hands mister. Actually move over I'm getting in the middle". Levi pushed his way between us and snuggled into both of us. I laughed and leaned over kissing Harley on his pouty lips. "Hey, no kissing while I'm here" Levi shouted. "Dude she is my girlfriend and you are stealing her" Harley replied. "Well, that's rude. She already knows I'd bang her if I was into girls. Don't be jealous Harley" Levi said. "Should I be worried you are trying to steal Harley? Maybe I should be watching your hands Levi" I laughed.
Harley and Levi both laughed at me. I knew what was happening. Levi and Harley were distracting me from my thoughts so I didn't end up with a panic attack. I still had them occasionally, especially when I got into my head, but my friends learnt to look for the triggers and how to help stop them. Curfew hit and everyone went off to their own rooms. Tomorrow was going to be here way too quickly for my liking.
