The Ex-Wife's Escape: From Betrayal to Revenge

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Sophia Williams froze mid-step.

The conversation from the private room drifted clearly to her ears.

"Ethan and Isabella still going at it? How long has it been?"

"Relax. Ethan finally found someone who suits his taste. Let him enjoy himself."

"They’ve got some nerve, doing it right in the next room. The sounds were enough to make me blush. Good thing I turned up the music, or the wife might’ve heard."

"What’s there to worry about? It’s about time Ethan woke up. What’s the point of being stuck with that ice queen?"

"Exactly. What good is beauty if she’s like a log in bed? Men prefer someone who knows how to have fun."

Sophia’s nails dug deep into her palms.

So this was the truth.

Everyone knew—everyone except her.

These so-called brothers, all respectful to her face, had been covering for Ethan’s affairs while mocking her behind her back.

Her chest burned as if torn open, the pain so sharp she could barely stand.

Outside, the rain poured in torrents, but she barely noticed. Like a ghost, she walked into the Immigration Bureau and mechanically signed her name.

When she returned home, she locked herself in her room.

The next day, Sophia was burning with fever.

By the time Ethan came home, she was delirious. Panicked, he rushed her to the hospital and stayed by her side without leaving—

Until his assistant arrived in a hurry.

"Mr. Johnson, the chairman of Lin Corp is here. He says it’s urgent."

Ethan frowned. "Reschedule."

The assistant whispered something, and his expression shifted.

"Sophia, I—"

"Go." She closed her eyes, her voice eerily calm.

Something twisted in Ethan’s chest, but time was pressing. He left in a rush.

Three days later, Isabella’s call came.

"Sophia, guess what? I’m pregnant." Her voice dripped with saccharine sweetness. "It’s Ethan’s."

"He’s been with me this whole time—didn’t even care that you were sick. The doctor says we can be intimate again in three months. He was so happy..."

Sophia silently pressed record.

Her fingers were ice-cold, but her heart was unnervingly still.

Ethan Johnson, she thought. You’d better enjoy this gift.
