Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Thud—
Ethan Sullivan staggered back two steps, blood trickling down his temple. His grip on Victoria Taylor loosened, fingers trembling slightly.
Victoria seized the chance to break free, but before she could turn away, she was yanked back violently. Her eyes widened in terror as she stared at the bloodied man before her.
"Have you lost your mind?" she shrieked, shielding her belly. "You already killed Sophia's two children—now you want to murder this one too?"
Ethan froze.
Victoria wrenched herself away but didn’t run. Instead, she lifted her chin with a triumphant smirk. "Regretting it now, Ethan?"
"Too bad..." She caressed her swollen abdomen. "She’ll never forgive you."
Blood dripped onto the white tiles, blooming into garish crimson. Ethan turned away unsteadily, stumbling out like a hollow shell.
The lock clicked behind him.
Victoria’s hands shook as she pulled out her phone. The screen displayed two glaring headlines:
#Sullivan Heiress Kicked Out of Family
#Sophia Williams Vanishes Without a Trace
Clutching her aching stomach, she dialed emergency services.
As long as this child lived, she still had a chance to turn the tables.
Sullivan Mansion
Ethan curled up in the corner of the nursery, fingertips brushing over the unused baby supplies—each one carefully chosen by Sophia.
"Sophia..." His voice cracked, blood dripping onto the wooden cradle.
He frantically wiped at the stains with his sleeve, only smearing them further. Just like their relationship—irreparably ruined.
The sudden ring of his phone went ignored until the butler hurried in. "Sir, Jacob Williams is here."
In the living room, Jacob grabbed Ethan by the collar. "Where’s my sister? What have you done with her?"
Ethan laughed softly.
"She’s gone." His voice was feather-light. "We’ve both lost her."
"You’re lying!" Jacob roared. "Did you—"
"Don’t pretend you’re innocent," Ethan cut in, his gaze icy.
Jacob’s hands trembled.
He remembered. It was him who’d secretly pushed Victoria toward Ethan, who’d helped hide the truth about the IVF. He’d thought he was helping his sister...
"She knew everything." Ethan shoved him away, leaving a trail of blood as he turned. "We deserve this."
Jacob stood rooted, drowning in dread.
