Chapter 5
Chapter 5
“Jenny’s here!” I nearly shout, quickly pulling my hands free of my girl and plopping her back onto her seat. Piper will freak the fuck out if anyone sees us like this. Especially if Jenny sees us like this. That girl is the queen of gossip and will tell the entire school that the two stepsiblings were making out, which would send my girl into an emotional tailspin and have her running from me. And I definitely don’t want that to happen. Not when I finally have her on the same page.
I look down at my pants, checking to see how obvious the mess is. There’s definitely a wet stain, and my cock is the size of an eggplant, so I’ll have to shield myself behind my school bag. I know my girl needs a moment to get herself together and won’t want to have to talk to Jenny in her current breathless state, so I grab my bag from the back and climb out, ready to get this shit done with Jenny so I can get back to what I was doing with my girl.
Piper
I look down at the skintight bodysuit hugging every single one of my curves and
cringe. The thing makes me look like a porn star. One wrong move and I’ll be showing a nipple. It won’t even zip up all the way. I’m seriously about to pop out of it.
“Relax.” Lex smiles. “You look hot, Pipe.” She keeps saying that, but I think I look ridiculous. God, I wish I’d remembered to go to the store, but my mind was such a mess over what happened with Cord that I completely forgot. Now I’m dressed as a “sexy cat” and can barely walk in the thing for fear my boobs are going to make an appearance as we’re going through this place.
Right as we step up to the entry line, my phone dings with a text. Cord’s name sends my stomach into a tornado of nerves. I still can’t believe I made out with my stepbrother. Only to be plunked into my seat right on the cusp of my orgasm and abandoned for the hot little cheerleader who showed up. Cord spent the entire afternoon with Jenny, and I spent the entire afternoon wondering why he touched me when he’s clearly interested in someone else.
Cord: Drake will be dressed as a chainsaw murderer. Banner will be in a Jason costume. Jax will be dressed as a clown holding a balloon. And I’ll be out in the graveyard, dressed as the grim reaper. BTW, I’m sorry I left you hanging this afternoon. Promise I’ll make it up to you tonight.
He can’t be serious. I spent the entire afternoon aching and freaking out, listening to Jenny’s giggle coming from his room, and now he’s going to act like nothing happened. It wasn’t like we were just in the middle of a conversation, and he had to excuse himself. We were making out. He had his fingers pumping inside me. And then he shoved me away, no explanation or apology, and jumped out of the truck. And I was forgotten. While he and Jenny had a grand time locked inside his bedroom.
If he thinks I’m going to let him crawl into my bed tonight after what he did, he’s crazy. He can call up Jenny if he wants to get laid because his stepsister is off- limits.
Me: What happened between us was a mistake and it will never happen again.
There’s a sinking feeling in my stomach as I hit send. It feels like I’m about to lose the person who means the most to me. We never should’ve crossed the line.
Now, everything is ruined between us. And it’s not like I can avoid him since his room is directly across from mine. Nope. I get to live in unrequited hell for another eight months.
My phone dings in with another text, but I shove it into my purse, ignoring it. It’s time to get my act together. We’re about to walk into the freaking Fright House, and I need to have my wits about me. I have to be alert at all times or the monsters inside will be able to catch me off guard, and then I’ll be suffering from PTSD and a broken heart.
A man dressed as a zombie steps up to take our tickets. He grunts, his head hanging to the side, eyes looking crazed, reaching out for our tickets with a heavy arm. He takes them from us, then steps to the side to let us pass. A shiver runs down my spine as I feel his eyes watching me walk by. So far, everyone is acting evil and cold. Even the guy at the ticket counter barely spoke. He just hissed and glared as he took our money.
I glance back over my shoulder and see the zombie following us. The look he gives me when our eyes connect has me scooting closer to the girls. He knows I’m scared and he’s feeding off my fear. I thought Cord was going to show the scare team my picture and warn them to stay away. But it doesn’t look like he followed through on his promise. Another sign of just how much I truly mean to him. He was probably so consumed with thoughts of the hot cheerleader that he forgot.
The big metal doors of the Fright House open before us and fear starts racing faster through my veins. My feet shuffle forward, following the girls inside. The first room we come to is a dark enclosed corridor, barely lit by flickering candles lining the stone wall. There’s only one door in front of us, which is closed.
A loud clanking sound comes from behind, and we all turn as a big bar comes down and locks the door we just entered through. There’s no turning back now.
