"You wouldn't," Astrid said softly as she raised her eyes to meet his, "I know you wouldn't. If you were that kind of man, the last time you saw me being bullied by Mr. Umber at the Emporio Club, you wouldn't have stepped in to help! "

"So, you're betting on that?" Roger raised his eyebrows.

Astrid smiled faintly, "Sort of." After a pause, she added, "But I won the bet, didn't I?"

"And what if you lose?" Roger asked again.
