When Love Turns into Hatred

Chapter 15 Abandoned(2)

Chapter 15 Abandoned(2)

"Do you want to take out the things in your pocket on your own or do you need some help?"

The maid kneeled at once.

"Ms. Edwards, I..." She shook and stammered. With a shaking hand, she took out a necklace from her pocket. "Ms. Edwards...didn't want this and gave it to me..."

She turned to Rose and said faster, "Ms. Edwards, you are nice and generous. I broke the rules and shouldn't have taken this."

She threw the necklace at Rose as if it was a hot potato. "Please forgive me. I am just a nobody. Don't let Mr. Roach get me wrong!"

Lying to Judson meant serious punishments.

If she was caught stealing, she would be sent to the police and get punished. Then she would be blacklisted and fail to get a new job.

The maid believed that Judson didn't see her steal. It was probably because he saw the shape of the necklace which was easy to notice under the thin clothing.

Judson sneered and asked Rose, "You gave it to her?"

Rose looked calm. "Maria is quite a clever liar. Maybe she shouldn't be just a maid."

Maria Bill, the maid, put the necklace in her pocket secretly as she cleaned the room. And she was caught. However, she reacted quickly and shifted the blame to Rose at once.

People working here impressed Rose with their shamelessness.

Maria was resentful. "Ms. Edwards, you are slandering me. You said these were craps and told me to take what I wanted..."

She waved her hands at Judson. "Mr. Roach, Ms. Edwards can help me with just a sentence. But she slandered me as a thief. She is a bad girl. I work for you. But she slandered me. It means that she despises you!"

Maria was not bold enough to slander Rose in front of Judson before.

But people in the Imperial Garden had got the news.

Rose offended Lillian and was forced to break up with Judson.

Men were not loyal.

He would abandon Rose. So Maria made light of her and slandered her.

Maybe Rose was even less important than an old maid like her to Judson.

Maria seemed respectful. But she felt carried away.

As a maid, she didn't expect to ride over the former hostess.

But Rose frowned and didn't even look at her. She nodded at Judson casually. "Everything is here. You can do whatever you want. I gotta go."

She felt disgusted. She didn't want to waste her time on a necklace.

It was not worth it to waste her time on people or things that were not important.
