Chapter 8
Chapter 8
His fingers tightened around Alexander's collar, his knuckles turning white as he continued to taunt.
"You're slandering her name, refusing to face the truth, you're just avoiding the fact that you killed her, that you killed your own wife and child with your own hands!"
He released Alexander's collar, his voice dripping with venom.
"The body in the attic is Lily's! She only gave birth to one child, the other didn't survive, and she died from complications! The reason I haven't gone to the police yet is because I want to see you unravel when the truth comes out. Alexander, are you man enough to let a forensic expert examine the body, or are you too scared? Scared that it really is Lily?"
Alexander swayed, his strength drained as the truth hit him like a freight train. He stumbled back a few steps before managing to steady himself.
By the time he returned to the villa, Evelyn had already donned a seductive Lolita outfit and was sprawled across the master bedroom. White fishnet stockings hugged her legs as she leaned into Alexander, her body limp like a doll.
"Brother Alex, Evelyn's waited so long for this... Today, Evelyn finally belongs to you..."
She closed her eyes and stood on tiptoe, offering her red lips to him.
But to her surprise, Alexander pushed her away.
"Evelyn, I've got work at the company. I'll sleep in the study tonight..."
With that, he turned to leave. Evelyn huffed in frustration, stripping off her clothes and chasing after him, even as she stood there naked.
"Cover yourself with a blanket at night, don't catch a cold," Alexander said, his tone detached, before closing the bedroom door behind him.
But instead of heading to the study, he turned and climbed the stairs to the attic.
He had come to face the truth.
Gathering every ounce of courage, Alexander opened the attic door, and the stench hit him like a wall.
He cursed under his breath, "Lily, what the hell are you doing, ugh! This is your last chance! Come out now or I'm really going to get pissed, ugh!"
But as he yelled, his words faltered. Slowly, he approached the decaying corpse, crouching in front of it. The heat in the attic had caused the body to rot beyond recognition, maggots crawling over the skin.
This time, Alexander didn't recoil. Instead, he leaned in close, his anger flaring.
"Lily! You think this is funny? A damn realistic dummy! How could you be dead?!"
Just as he shouted, footsteps echoed through the attic. Alexander's eyes lit up with hope.
"Lily, I knew you weren't dead!"
But his expression faltered when he saw who it was, his parents.
Mrs. Frost screamed in horror and fainted, while Mr. Frost Senior, who'd seen it all, gagged repeatedly.
He raised his cane, bringing it down hard on Alexander's knee.
Alexander stumbled and fell to his knees, groaning in pain.
"You beast! You really killed Lily! Killed your own child!"
Alexander lost it, screaming like a madman.
"This is all Lily's fault! We were trapped in that cabin! She gave all the food to me, and in the end, she survived too!"
I felt a pang of bitterness as I heard his words. He remembered everything.
But why, why had he, the one I'd saved, left me to die?
Mr. Frost Senior was beside himself with fury, hitting Alexander with his cane over and over again.
"Fool! How could the Frost family produce such a fool!"
Alexander, irritable from the commotion, ordered bodyguards to escort the elderly couple out.
Alone in the attic now, Alexander stared down at my body, still unrecognizable after all this time. He traced his fingers over the dried blood, trembling as he realized something.
His eyes went wide in panic, and he scrambled for his phone, quickly typing into it.
From behind him, I could see clearly.
