Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Kayne raised his hand, cutting me off. "Stop." He clapped his hands, and suddenly, a waiter appeared with a large bouquet of blue roses. As soft music began to play, Kayne stood up and walked over to me. He pulled a velvet box from his chest pocket and opened it in front of me.
"Olivia, happy birthday."
I froze when I saw the ring inside the box. He took my hand gently and said, "Olivia, we've been together for so many years. Our relationship deserves a proper future. Marry me."
I wanted to break up with him, but here he was, proposing in front of everyone. People around us began pulling out their phones to take pictures and videos, showering us with blessings. I pulled my hand away from his.
"Kayne, are you crazy?"
The music abruptly stopped, and the whole restaurant, not just Kayne, stared at me with discomfort. Grabbing my bag, I stood up and turned to leave. Kayne quickly followed.
"Olivia, stop!" he called after me.
"What can I do to make you stop being so bad-tempered?" he asked, clearly frustrated.
I'd humiliated him in front of everyone, and now, it seemed, he couldn't take it anymore. He kept following me, and I snapped.
"I have a bad temper? If you actually respected me, we wouldn't be in this situation!" I said, my voice rising. "I want to break up with you, but you propose to me? Do you even realize what you're doing? You're trying to trap me."
I turned to face him one last time. "I'm sorry, Kayne. But I'm still breaking up with you."
His eyes darkened with disappointment, and for a moment, I almost felt guilty. But I knew I was doing the right thing.
