Chapter 15
Chapter 15
"Shut up!" Sebastian Kingsley gripped Lillian Grayson's chin with crushing force, his fingers digging into her flesh as if he meant to shatter her bones. "Who do you think you are, daring to mention Annabelle's name?"
The icy fury in his eyes sent a violent shiver down Lillian's spine.
"You're nothing but a plaything." He released her with a disgusted flick of his fingers. "A child? I can have as many as I want."
"Guards!" he barked. "Take her to the operating room—now!"
Lillian staggered back in terror, clutching her stomach protectively.
This baby was her only bargaining chip!
With a desperate gasp, she whirled around and bolted toward the crowd—the same people who had defended her moments ago. Surely, they would help her now!
Sebastian let out a cold laugh and raised a hand, stopping his bodyguards from pursuing. He watched with detached amusement as Lillian stumbled away, his gaze filled with the indifference of a man observing a dying insect.
Then—a scream.
The crowd fell silent.
Someone recognized Sebastian.
"That’s Mr. Kingsley of Prosperity Group!"
"Oh my God, isn’t he Annabelle Whitmore’s husband?"
"We’ve been tricked!"
The truth exploded like a bomb.
The same people who had once sympathized with Lillian now burned with outrage.
They’d been fooled.
This pitiful woman was the real mistress!
"Slut!"
"Shameless whore!"
Curses rained down. Someone shoved Lillian hard, sending her crashing to the ground. Still, she curled protectively around her belly as fists pummeled her from all sides.
Sebastian watched impassively until she lay half-conscious in a broken heap. Only then did he signal his men to intervene.
He looked down at her battered form with cold disdain.
"You have three days," he said, his voice like steel. "A public apology. Get rid of the child. And disappear—forever."
Lillian lay curled on the pavement, blood trickling from her lips.
But her hands never left her stomach.
This baby was her last hope.
