Dumps Me, So His Homie Snatches Me Up

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Henry had just sent me home when the doorbell rang again.

I subconsciously thought it was Henry.

When I opened the door, the smile froze on my face.

It was Kevin.

This guy just wouldn't give up.

He blocked the doorframe firmly, not letting me close the door.

Kevin took a deep breath, trying his best to put on a good face.

"Just tell me, and I'll believe you," he said.

"Nothing happened between you two, right?"

He looked at me hopefully. For the first time, I saw this kind of expression on his face.

"As long as you want, we can pretend none of this ever happened."

Kevin's words made me feel like he really was sick in the head.

He could pretend nothing had happened.

But I couldn't.

"Wasn't I clear enough tonight?" I asked.

The metal door pressed against Kevin's hand, but he seemed not to feel the pain.

"Sophia, did you ever really like me?" he asked.

"Do you really want to see me with another woman?"

I just found him laughable.

Thinking of the days I spent with him before, I suddenly felt like I must have been blind back then.

I sneered.

"Whatever. Have a long and happy life together."

Taking advantage of the moment he pulled back his hand from the pain, I quickly closed the door.

Through the security camera, I could still see Kevin's figure standing outside.

I turned and walked towards the room, suddenly remembering what Kevin had said that night.

A week had long passed.

I didn't reach out to him.

I didn't even want to see him again.

Another person's image appeared in my mind.

The way he held my hand.

The way he kissed me.

And the nice scent of his cologne.

I think I finally understood my own feelings.

...

After that day, Henry kept appearing before me, intentionally or not.

"How come you're always following me everywhere?" I asked.

In the elevator, I looked at Henry behind me through the mirror.

"Work," he said.

A document was placed in front of me.

As if afraid I wouldn't understand, he explained:

"It's a company project. I came specially to follow up on it."

"What a coincidence, it happens to be in collaboration with your company."

Henry smiled innocently, emphasizing the word "specially".

How could there be such a coincidence? This project had clearly started cooperating just a few days ago.

I didn't believe for a second that he wasn't behind this.

I said nothing, just handed the document back to him.

The elevator fell into silent stillness. Henry looked at me carelessly.

Just as the door opened, he closed it again.

The people outside were as confused as I was.

"I've been chasing someone for so long, but she can't even tell I'm pursuing her," Henry said.

He put on a pitiful expression and slowly leaned closer to me.

"Am I not pitiful?" he asked.

Maybe it was because he was too close, but I felt a bit embarrassed.

I fidgeted with my fingers and turned my head, saying softly:

"If it's because of that night, you really don't have to..."

"It's not because of that. I like you. I've liked you for a long time," Henry said.
