Chapter 2
Chapter 2
After the $10,000 hit my account, I stood up, flashing a smirk. "Thanks, Chase. That's the first time you've been so generous!"
He winced but quickly snapped back, "Good. Don't ever come looking for me again, loser. And don't try to contact me, I'm afraid your bad luck will mess up my fortune."
I nodded, putting on a show of agreeing enthusiastically.
Once he was out of sight, I told my driver to bring my Bentley from the garage.
No more pretending.
That night, I saw Chase's Instagram post, two pictures: one of the lottery ticket, the other a selfie at the Maserati dealership. The caption read: "Just focus on two things: working hard and loving yourself. Luck follows when you smile enough."
I nearly choked on my dinner.
Before I could hit “unfollow,” something about that lottery ticket caught my attention.
The numbers weren't fully visible, but the draw number was clear: 381.
Hold up... the winning numbers for draw 381 didn't match his!
I quickly looked up the results and realized he'd mixed up the numbers. He'd seen the previous draw's results, probably watched a replay or glanced at the wrong one, thinking he'd hit $4 million.
This was going to be too good.
I couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he realized the truth.
