Flash Marriage: Drown in your Tenderness

Chapter 5 The Man in the Wheelchair

Chapter 5 The Man in the Wheelchair

Did he have a few screws loose? Why was he so calm despite having cut his finger?

Leslie didn't think too much about it. After sweeping away the glass pieces, she proceeded to search for the first aid kit. She remembered that there was one here, and she had seen it before.

Soon, she was back with the medicine box.

Seeing that she was trying to help him dress the wound, Charlie Jordan said, "I'll do it myself."

It would seem he didn’t like others touching him.

Leslie said, "It's okay, I'll do it. You're pretty clumsy even without the wound, so..."

She thoroughly disinfected the wound and put a band-aid on it.

Clumsy?

Was she talking about him?

Charlie couldn't help but frown.

Thomas Cooper chanced upon this scene as he walked through the doors—some kid was squatting beside Mr. Jordan, helping him treat his wound.

And Mr. Jordan hadn’t driven her away?

Charlie had been here for more than two months. He never went back because he just didn’t want to get in touch with people.

So, it was a bit surprising what happened today.

"Okay." Leslie rose, picking up the medicine box and preparing to put it back. Seeing Thomas standing there, she called out. "Ah, Mr. Cooper."

Thomas was her usual point of contact in this villa, so she had much more opportunities to talk to him.

The man responded with a simple nod.

After seeing Leslie walk away, he said to Charlie, "I heard there’s still no news about Miss Pill. Reportedly… she’s gone abroad to study."

Miss Pill was originally Mr. Jordan's fiancée, and the two were expected to get married this year.

However, she never showed up again after Mr. Jordan's accident, and she didn’t even bother to call.

After listening to Thomas' words, Charlie laughed. "Thomas, am I that scary?"

Was she afraid that he would cling to her after becoming a cripple, to the point where she didn’t even dare ask about his condition?

Thomas replied, "Don't think too much, Mr. Jordan, your legs will surely get better in time. Your family is concerned about you."

Leslie was just about to go back after cleaning the entire place, but the downpour started to get heavy outside. So, she had no choice but to stay back for a while.

She was actually relieved that she hadn’t gone home early.

Her mother had been giving her the attitude lately, treating her like an enemy just because she insisted on going to college.

Leslie knew it was impossible for her mother to fork out the money for her tuition.

Did she have no choice but to listen to her mother? Would she have to give up on her studies and get married as per their arrangement?

Leslie's eyes fell on Charlie, who was sitting dazed in front of the French window.

She knocked on the door and walked in.

Charlie raised his head and glanced at her. "What's the matter?"

"Sir, can you… advance me some money?" Perhaps it was because the other party was an unfamiliar person, but it wasn't all that difficult for her to speak up.

Charlie looked at her with an odd expression.

Leslie explained, "I know it's an abrupt request, but I’ll definitely pay it back. I can sign an IOU, I will pay you back no matter what… I’m about to start college, but I don’t have enough money to cover tuition."

She had given this matter a lot of thought—she couldn't give up on higher education.

It was the only ray of hope for her at present.

Charlie looked at Leslie. He had heard from Thomas that she had good grades. It was because of her excellent academic performance in school that Thomas recommended her to work here.

He might’ve agreed any other day.

But today, he was in a bad mood because of what happened with Jenna Pill.

For some reason, he just felt like making things difficult for her. "I don't help others for free. If you want me to help you... you have to do something in return."
