He Postpons the wedding, I Marry Another

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

The moment I realized my fiancé would always choose his sister over me, I knew our wedding was doomed. "Nicole attempted suicide," Sonny said coldly. "We’ll have to postpone the wedding." My heart sank as I stood in my wedding dress, tears streaming down my face, the phone slipping from my hand.

"Postpone?" I whispered, but the line had already gone dead.

"Yeah… okay," I whispered hoarsely to no one. My hand dropped to my side, the phone slipping through my fingers.

Only then did I realize my cheeks were wet. I hadn't even noticed the tears falling. I squeezed my eyes shut, but the pain and bitterness clawed their way to the surface, suffocating me.

For six months, ever since our engagement, Nicole Simmons, the girl the Simmons family had fostered since she was a child, had done everything in her power to sabotage our wedding.

The first time I met Sonny's parents, Nicole was a bratty teenager, throwing sarcastic comments and childish insults my way. I brushed it off, thinking she was just afraid of losing her protective older brother. Sonny always defended me back then, so I let it slide.

But when her words failed to drive a wedge between us, she escalated. She started making herself sick, so weak she had to be hospitalized repeatedly.

The first time it happened, I brought her homemade soup, hoping to extend an olive branch. The moment she saw me, she flew into a rage. With wild eyes, she grabbed a vase from her bedside and hurled it at me. It shattered against my forehead, and warm blood trickled down my face.

What had once been petty tantrums had turned into something cruel and vicious. I had been raised in a loving, sheltered home, I had never been treated like this before. But I endured it. I swallowed my pride.

Now, Nicole didn't even see me as a person. She saw me as an obstacle to be crushed. And the worst part? Sonny let her.

I wiped my tears, took one last look at my wedding dress, and made my decision.

If Sonny wanted to put our wedding on hold for Nicole, I wouldn't wait around for him to change his mind.

I was done.
