Chapter 11: Find Her Alive or Dead
Chapter 11: Find Her Alive or Dead
Ethan Foster lowered his head, then looked up at Emily Johnson with bloodshot eyes.
"Sir, "
"Ah!"
Suddenly, the man seized her throat, his handsome face twisted with fury, turning monstrous.
Emily's pupils dilated violently as suffocation consumed her. The will to survive made her struggle desperately, but overwhelming despair crashed over her like a swarm of locusts.
Had Ethan not released his grip, Emily was certain she would have been strangled to death.
"Sir..." She gasped for air. "What's wrong with you? I know you're grieving over Madam's suicide, but you can't take it out on me! My child and I are innocent!"
She hoped invoking the child would calm him.
Instead, it only enraged him further.
"How dare you mention the child!"
"If you hadn't used the baby to provoke Sophia, she wouldn't have left! You drove her away! You killed her!"
Ethan shoved her aside.
Emily collapsed to the floor, pain instantly bringing tears to her eyes. His words sent a wave of uncontrollable panic through her.
What did he mean, she killed Sophia?
Had he discovered all her provocations?
But Sophia had already jumped into the sea. How could she have told Ethan anything?
There had to be a misunderstanding!
Seizing the possibility, Emily burst into theatrical sobs.
"Sir, I know you're heartbroken over Madam's death, but her leaving had nothing to do with me! You know I was with you last night!"
Ethan grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at his phone screen.
Every taunting message she had sent Sophia glared back at her.
Emily's face drained of color, turning deathly pale.
Within seconds, she dropped to her knees, terror gripping her heart.
Ethan knew everything.
He had seen every cruel word she'd sent Sophia.
But then she remembered, she was carrying his child.
Even if he despised her, Sophia was dead. And she still had his baby!
"Sir... I'm sorry..." Emily forced out tears, adopting her usual pitiful act. "I admit I sent those messages, but it was only because I love you too much! What woman could bear sharing the man she loves? I just... I couldn't help myself!"
"You love me?"
Ethan's expression darkened with disgust. "Who asked for your worthless affection?"
"Emily, I told you, you could have anything you wanted, as long as you stayed away from Sophia. But you were too greedy. You couldn't even keep your mouth shut."
The thought of what Sophia had endured, of her standing hopelessly by the sea,
It made Ethan's chest tighten with agony.
"Emily, you deserve to die."
Finally, true fear seized her. After two years by his side, she recognized the murderous rage boiling in his eyes.
"Sir, I was wrong..." She clung to his leg, begging desperately. "I admit I provoked Madam, but I never forced her to die! I'll never do it again, I swear! Just... think of the child, "
"My child?"
Ethan cut her off with a cold laugh. "That isn't mine."
Emily's tears froze.
"The only reason I let you keep it was because Sophia was afraid of the pain of childbirth. I allowed you to bear a child for the Foster family's sake. But without Sophia, what right do you have to carry Ethan Foster's heir?"
Her face turned ashen.
She had never realized how cheap and laughable her position truly was.
"But Madam is already, "
"Shut up!"
Ethan gripped her jaw. "Sophia isn't dead. She's alive!"
He threw her aside.
Find her alive or dead.
As long as there was no body, Sophia Williams still lived.
