Chapter 7

As he finished speaking, the entire wedding venue fell silent.

Lily's face, which had been joyful and excited just moments ago, instantly turned pale.

The wine glass in her hand fell to the ground.

She couldn't care less about the Parker family's so-called face. She grabbed the assistant's collar, her eyes full of anger.

"What did you say? Say it again!"

"Where did Jack go?"

Ryan tried to pull her back beside him.

Constantly trying to calm her emotions.

"Lily, don't be impulsive. Everyone is watching. Your parents are here too. We can talk about this later."

"Lily?"

Hearing his soft, concerned words,

This time Lily couldn't remain as calm as before.

She used her other hand to push Ryan away.

She pulled the assistant to a corner where no one else was.

"What exactly happened to Jack? Wasn't he supposed to be waiting obediently for me at the Parker house? We even talked on the phone this morning. He promised me!"

Perhaps due to her agitated emotions,

Even Lily herself didn't notice the trembling hidden in her voice.

She didn't know why she was so agitated.

But the moment she heard that I was in trouble, her emotions spiraled out of control.

The assistant panicked and hurriedly showed her the news of the plane crash on his phone.

"Mr. Carter did indeed board that flight. I only just found out. For the past two days, the Parker family said they were holding your wedding and needed manpower, so all the servants from the villa were borrowed to the hotel. There was no one left at home to take care of Mr. Carter..."

"I've already checked his boarding information. It was definitely this flight."

"I've also looked at the surveillance footage from the villa. Mr. Carter left two nights ago, the night you left with Mr. Lin..."

The hand on his collar fell limply.

For the first time, Lily was overwhelmed by a deep sense of powerlessness.

She didn't even have the strength to stand up.

"It can't be. Jack promised me he would wait for me at home. He even wished us a happy wedding..."

"No, that's not right. He said, he wished me and Ryan a happy wedding..."

Her voice was so faint that the assistant could barely hear without listening closely.

Sensing something was wrong, the assistant hesitantly said:

"Ms. Parker, did Mr. Carter find out about what you did?"

"Otherwise, given his physical condition, it would have been impossible for him to leave at a time like this!"

"If that's the case, I'm afraid..."

He didn't finish the rest of his sentence.

But Lily had already foreseen the outcome.

However, she was unwilling to believe the bloody truth laid out before her eyes.

She chose self-deception.

"No, it's impossible. Jack wouldn't have found out. With his personality, if he knew anything, he definitely would have come to question me first. But he didn't say anything. He didn't even message me for the past two days."

"I had already explained the incident at the banquet to him. He didn't blame me!"

"He wouldn't just leave like this. I won't allow it!"

"Find him. Dig three feet into the ground if you have to, but find him!"

"I want to see him alive, and if he's... if he's dead, I want to bury his body with my own hands!"

The last sentence was shouted with all of Lily's strength.
