My Son, Their Prop- A Mother's Wrath to Burn It All Down

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Emeline arrived, and with her came my husband, Frederic. He asked in surprise, "When did Vivien decide to get married? How come I didn't know she had a boyfriend?"I shrugged, indicating I had no idea either.

"Oh, Frederic, you can go back to work. Sandi can stay with me."

Frederic looked at me, then at Vivien, and smiled.

"When did you two start getting along so well?"

Vivien linked arms with me and said to Frederic, "Sandi and I just had a little misunderstanding before. Now that it's cleared up, of course, we're getting along better."I nodded with a smile.Frederic cautioned Vivien, "I'm heading back to the office. Don't cause trouble for Sandi!"

"I know, I know, you go on now!"

After Frederic left, Emeline happily took Vivien's hand.

"Vivien, let me have a look. You look stunning in this dress."

Vivien twirled around proudly and held Emeline's arm.

"Mom, about what I mentioned earlier, pick out a dress too, and join me."

Emeline's eyes lit up with delight.

"A dress for me? That's my girl, always thinking of her mom."

I settled back on the couch, sipping my coffee, watching them selecting dresses.

"Laugh all you want while you still can."

I thought to myself.Everything was well arranged. The client paid seventy percent of the fee upfront, promising to settle the rest afterward. They rented a wedding car and, keeping Frederic in the dark, headed to the client's house.I claimed that I didn't want to be recognized by the villagers, so I drove my own car, following behind.Following the village's tradition, the wedding feast began in the afternoon.Vivien dressed in her long train wedding gown and heavily made-up.And Emeline donned a new dress with jewelry adorning her like a Christmas tree. When Vivien saw the groom, who was sporting a white rose on his chest, her face fell instantly.Vivien froze in place, and I feigned confusion, asking, "Vivien, why did you stop?"She pointed to the groom.I followed her gaze and quickly grabbed her hand, whispering, "Don't worry. It's just role-playing.We've already collected the deposit, so let's get inside first."Vivien's mind was blank, and she allowed me to lead her to the room.Emeline was confused when she saw Vivien's expression.

"What's wrong with Vivien?"

I helped Vivien sit down in the room and explained to Emeline.

"Mom, stay here with Vivien. I'll go and check things outside."

As evening approached, it was time for Vivien to join the groom in toasting the guests.Emeline eventually persuaded her to come out.I made sure the young man wouldn't appear until Vivien had returned to the room. So, Vivien hadn't seen the handsome young man from the photo the whole time. She had no choice but to play the role of bride with another man.During the toast, the guests began chanting for the newlyweds to kiss.Seeing the groom leaning in, Vivien, encumbered by her long train, looked at me desperately for help.I hurried over, smiling as I pulled Vivien away from the groom.

"Everyone, the bride is a bit shy. Let's let her return to her room. The newlyweds need some space."

The guests below whistled and laughed mischievously.I escorted Vivien back to the room, and she clutched my hand urgently.

"Sandi, when can we leave? I can't stand another minute here."

I patted her to reassure her.

"It's almost over. Just hold on a little longer. I'll send Emeline in to keep you company."

Her face was full of resentment.

"Wait till I confront that client. This is outright deception!"

I stepped out of the room, closed the door, and found a quiet place to rest. Not long after, I heard Vivien's shriek from inside the room.
