Chapter6
Chapter6
Richard and William dragged Mr Jones out of the house dropping him on the ground. Richard had no idea what he was talking about but needed to find out. Mrs Jones sat at the kitchen table repeating "what have I done?" To herself. She hoped that Parker would be back soon.
Leon, Tanner and Jude didn't know what to think. They wanted answers but also felt extreme guilt for what they had done to Parker. "Mum what was he talking about?" Leon asked finally. He wanted answers. "He is gone someone else must of called the police because they took him away" William stated before coming and joining the Jones family at the table along with his father.
"Start talking" Richard demanded. When no one else spoke Tanner decided to say something. "Umm we didn't celebrate Parker's 18th birthday and no one was there when she graduated last night" Tanner stated. Richard was fuming that wasn't what he meant. "She is yours" Mrs Jones whispered as tears ran down her face.
William stood quickly knocking the chair backwards. He was worried now, he helped Parker leave and now he wouldn't get to see her and build a proper relationship with her as her big brother. "She is gone" William stated.
Richard sat very still, he had a daughter he never knew. He didn't get to see her grow up or hear her first word. Hell he didn't even get to hold her in his arms and promise her the world. In fact he had avoided the girl so much because he blamed her for taking away Tamia Jones from him. Richard looked at his son and instantly he was worried. "What do you mean she is gone?" Richard asked.
William shook his head and headed to Parker's room retrieving the letter he saw she left. He came back down and slammed it on the table. "I dropped her to the airport. You treated her like a maid and couldn't be bother turning up for her graduation. She was valedictorian by the way and there was no one there to cheer her on. I celebrated her 18th with her. She brought her own fucken cake" William spat. He was so angry with these people for hurting Parker and even more so now he knew that she was actually his sister. A sister he helped to run away.
"We will call her to come home" Leon finally stated. "She threw out her SIM card at the airport. I doubt she would ever come back here" William spat. He knew when Parker didn't say she would be in touch, that she had no intention of having any ties to her so called family. He saw her chuck her SIM card out as she went through security and smiled. She looked like a normal teenager heading off and he knew then it would be the last time he ever saw Parker Jones.
Tamia opened the letter that William had put on the table. This was the last thing Parker had left, that connected her to her daughter. Tamia hoped there was something in there that would tell her where Parker was so she could go and beg her for forgiveness. She had been a fool not to see what her husband was doing. She had blindly allowed him to treat Parker like a second class citizen just like her mum had said. She didn't question anything until it was to late and she regretted it completely.
Tamia kept reading the words on the paper willing it to be something else. Leon grabbed the paper from his mothers hands as she was a sobbing mess before reading to to everyone "goodbye to the family who never really cared anyway. I am starting a new adventure. I am going to Find me, the real me. Not the Parker you all take advantage of and forget".
"That's it? That's all she said?" Jude asked. Surely there was something else in there, like where she was going and how to contact her. "That's it" Leon whispered. He was suppose to be her big brother and he felt like he had let her down. Jude hung his head is shame, Parker had been his shadow as a kid but he had pushed her away as he hit his teen years not wanting his baby sister tagging along. He wished he could turn back time and cherish those moments because he knew he had really fucked up.
"I'm taking Parker's things. You cost me 18 years of my daughters life and I'll be damn if I sit back and let you cost me any more. I will find her but I'm warning you all to stay the fuck away from her. I won't let you hurt her ever again" Richard boomed out. He was furious with the Jones'. Not only had Tamia never told him she was pregnant with his baby, they had run his daughter out of town before he had the chance to know her.1
"She is our sister. You can't keep us away from her" Tanner stated. "The sister you fucken took advantage of. The sister you forgot. The same sister who clearly has taken off because this fucked up family couldn't be bother with her. She is my daughter too and I was never given the opportunity of knowing her" Richard roared back.
"Stop it, just stop it. He promised he would raise her like his own. Just like I did with Leon. I should of known when he wouldn't sign the birth certificate. This is my fault, don't blame the boys. I should of known, I should of stopped him. God my own mother warned me but I was to stubborn to listen. I'll stay away from Parker if that's what you want, but don't make the boys do it. Let them be part of her life" Tamia whispered out.
"Mum? What do you mean? Are you not my mum?" Leon asked. "I am your mum, I adopted you when you were a baby. I raised you like my own. Your father got a child pregnant. She was 16 and we had just been married. Her family wouldn't allow her to keep the baby. She loved you so much Leon, but her father couldn't stand looking at you. Your dad was the same age as your grandfather and so we took you, we loved you, I loved you like my own" Tamia stated. She did love Leon and to her he was her son. She had spent hours in therapy with her husband to get over his affair but it had done nothing because he had continued to cheat until her family stepped in and the money he had access to vanished. He had come back after that and she was stupidly in love with him and now it had cost her her family.1
Parker had landed in Melbourne and got herself a new SIM card. She finally felt free and was excited for her next adventure. She contacted Matt to give him her new phone number and also let him know she would be arriving tomorrow morning on the train. Matt promised to pick her up at the station and had secured her early entry into her dorm room. Parker wasn't going to trust the promise though, no one had ever kept their word and she didn't think they would now.
Parker spent a few hours in Melbourne killing time. She rode the trams and headed into the tourist areas snapping photos on her phone. She made a promise to herself never to let her so called family upset her anymore.1
Parker couldn't help the excitement as she boarded the train finding her seat easily. She did plan to catch some sleep on the train as it was an overnight trip. She had a lot to do in Sydney the next day, including buying what was needed for her dorm room and looking for a job. She knew the money she had on her wasn't going to last long at all. With those thoughts running through her head she dozed off laying her head on the window.
