The Silent Womb's Revenge

Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Ethan Sullivan's Weibo post sent the internet into a frenzy.

Zhou, his assistant, stood at the office door, clutching the freshly drafted PR plan, but hesitated to hand it over. Watching Ethan's haggard profile, he sighed and silently fed the documents into the shredder.

If only he had known better back then.

The online vitriol was relentless—some cursed him to die alone, others jeered that he deserved to lose the love of his life. Yet Ethan scrolled through the comments like a man punishing himself, desperate for even the faintest trace of Sophia Williams.

From dawn till midnight, his eyes burned red, but he found nothing.

Despair swallowed him whole.

Mentioning Victoria Taylor's child in front of Jacob Williams had been his last gamble. He thought—if something happened to Sophia's only family, would she come back?

But she never appeared.

"Mr. Sullivan..." Zhou started, then faltered.

Ethan ignored him, fingers trembling as he posted another update:

[Sophia, we could adopt a little girl who looks like you. You'd teach her to read, and I'd teach her to paint. Would you like that?]

In the nursery, Ethan curled in the corner, clutching a stuffed toy Sophia had left behind. Like an addict, he inhaled the fading scent clinging to it.

"Miss Taylor, you can't go in—!"

A commotion erupted outside. Victoria stormed in, hair disheveled, and hurled a storage box to the floor.

"Get out!" Ethan shoved her into the hallway before turning back to carefully gather the scattered syringes, wiping each one as if they were treasures.

Pinned down by the maids in the corridor, Victoria sobbed hysterically. "Ethan! That was your child too! He could already move—how could you not even look at him?!"

Ethan acted as if he hadn't heard, methodically sorting through Sophia's belongings.

"Ethan..." Victoria's voice suddenly softened. "You used to say you loved me..."

"Loved you?" Ethan finally looked up, his gaze glacial. "You think you deserved that?"

Victoria trembled, tears streaking her face. "You ruined me."

"You ruined yourself." His laugh was icy. "You took the money and still wanted status. How dare you even speak her name?"

A maid hesitantly approached with an envelope. "Sir, this just arrived..."

Ethan froze.

The envelope was addressed in bold letters:

Ethan Sullivan & Sophia Williams – Private & Confidential.

His chest seized with pain—he couldn’t bring himself to touch it.
