Chapter 23

"So...you want me to kill some vampire princess?" Dominic asked.

Vincent nodded, "She can't harm you and you're skilled with the dagger."

"Unless I drop it."

"Dom, come on, it happens," I sighed. "Plus, Seraphina and your uncle are fine. Except for the flu that has a hold on Athos."

He stared at us, the shadows now faded so we could see his body and up to his nose. I tilted my head, silently wondering what it meant if the shadows were receding and showing his human self.

"Fine, only because I love you guys," he sighed in defeat.

Vincent grinned, "If I could hug you right now, I would."

Dominic smiled sadly before turning away from us, he waved goodbye and disappeared. I stared at the spot he occupied, wondering if the goddess will ever allow him to return to us.

"Once we get to Willow Stone pack and Athos is settled in....wanna go on a date?" Vincent asked.

I smiled, "I'd like that."

"Maybe you'll remember some of our previous dates."

I leaned against him as he wrapped his arm around me, loving the feel of sparks tickling my skin. When we reached the cave, Athos was awake and leaning against the wall. He was extremely pale and shaking, despite the blankets wrapped around him.

"Please, just drink some water," Seraphina pleaded him.

He shook his head, "I'll throw it u—up."

"Just a sip."

He sighed, but gave in as he weakly took a sip. My sister grinned and set the cup down, she brought her hand up and felt his forehead. A small speck of relief sparkled in her eyes, her grin growing wider.

"Your fever is going down," she said softly.

Athos only nodded, his eyes drooping as he started to pass out. I silently knelt beside him, concern bubbling in my chest.

"When are we going to Willow Stone?" I asked quietly.

"This afternoon, Rocco is going to bring the car after we get Athos settled. Aria said he should be cured within three days, depending on how bad the virus got him," she explained.

"Sera, are you falling for him?"

She stared at me, her eyes widening just a fraction, "I...what? No, I just care....a lot, about him."

"It's okay."

"But I just left my mate, I should be heartbroken...shouldn't I?" She frowned.

I chuckled, "The Seraphina I grew up with never allowed her past to drag her down. You're not the type to drown yourself in self—pity. Plus, you actually get him to show emotion. With us, he barely speaks or pays attention. He just...looks like a statue the entire time."

She frowned before looking at him, her eyes softening as he snored softly. She smiled, her hand moving to his head as she begun to run her fingers through his hair. Athos leaned into her touch, unconsciously craving it. I smiled as well, he can't control himself in his sleep, he can't stop us from seeing what he truly wants. As he curled up against me sister with his head in her lap and a smile on his face, I figured out one of his desires.

A loving touch.
