Chapter 5
Chapter 5
"I finally did it. I got the title, the girl, his happiness. I destroyed my so—called family, the ones who turned their backs on me. It's surprising, I thought I wanted her to claim her as my own but I don't. She doesn't satisfy me like Ophelia does, not even close. Once I make sure my brother is dead, Olivia is next.”
It was that paragraph that had my heart hammering against my chest, the surprise flowing through my veins like cold liquid. Shivers ran along my spine, nausea rumbled through me and my hands began to shake. I breathed in and out, calming myself down before I lost control and shifted in the kitchen.
"I guess that settles it…” I murmured.
Vincent nodded as he shoveled a piece of toast in his mouth, "Told you.”
"Well, my apologies that I don't know you,” I retorted.
"But you do know me, I just have to figure out how to get you to remember.”
"Without kissing or touching.”
He rolled his eyes, "Yeah, without any of that.”
"Well, as I think over all of this wonderful info, I need you to prepare for the announcement this evening.”
"What announcement?”
I smirked, "Why, introducing you as the alpha of course.”
He stared at me in astonishment, "But they know me.”
"Yeah, as the twin who disappeared for several years. Make sure to wear something nice, the council will be there as well.”
"Wonderful.”
"Honestly, I always thought Dominick was a dick.”
"Rayne.”
She threw her hands up in mock surrender as they all gathered in the backyard, watching me with their curious stares. A few females even dared to give him lustful looks, to which he ignored. Once the entire pack was together, I quickly silenced them.
"As you all know, your Alpha was killed while protecting us. He died a hero, a man whom we can never forget. But due to council orders, I cannot lead a pack on my own. Not that I can't handle it, but we all know how unmated alphas can be. For your safety, I will be mated to Dominic's twin brother, my other true mate, Vincent," I announced.
Hushed voices filtered through the crowd, taunting me with their desire filled words. It was mostly females, but a few men also took a liking to Vincent.
As if feeling the anger radiating off of me, Vincent gently grabbed my hand. I glanced at our intertwined fingers before looking up at him, my heart skipping a beat at the gesture. He didn't look back though, he continued facing forward with a hard stare. The power within him was evident, even I had the urge to submit.
"Imagine that power in bed, aye aye, yes papi!" My wolf howled.
I could feel the heat rush to my cheeks, earning a few awe's from the elders. Beside me, Vincent chuckled softly, adding onto my humiliation.
"I expect you all to show him respect, the same you showed to Dominic," I stated.
My lead male warrior stepped forward, his blue eyes holding a challenging look.
"You know the rule, Luna. He must earn his respect from us by fighting the challengers," he voiced.
I nodded, "I know, I'm sure Vincent knows as well. The challenges will be held tomorrow morning, starting at six."
Vincent narrowed his eyes at my smirking warrior, his body becoming tense. He took a step forward, threatening him, warning him to back down. My warrior paled, the fear flashed in his eyes for only a moment. He then tilted his head up, arrogance dancing around him.
"Not to offend you, Vince, but I believe I would be a better choice for our Luna. Unlike you, I didn't disappear and leave her with the brother who threatened her," he sneered.
I furrowed my eyebrows and turned towards Vincent, "What?"
He showed no emotion as he tilted his head, "Do you even know the full story, Brayden?"
Brayden frowned, his eyes holding uncertainty now, "I..."
"Exactly. Don't run your mouth like some school girl or I will take away your ability to speak."
The threat caused everyone to gasp, their eyes wide as Vincent stood tall. My own eyes were wide, Dominic was never like this. He was more submissive, which was odd for an alpha. But Vincent, he's what an alpha should be. Taking matters into his own hands, standing his ground, and getting his point across. By the obvious horror displayed on Brayden's face, I knew Vincent easily finished his first challenger.
Without even touching him.
I silently sat within my office, going over the files for a few new members. I smiled when I saw Alanna was requesting to have her guy friend to join, stating she needed him. I have met this man on a few occasions, including to mine and Dominic's mating ceremony. He was a gentleman and it was as clear as day that he loved her. I had questioned him about his mate, to which he explained she rejected him for some beta.
Despite Alanna's closeness to Vincent earlier, I know she's the type to back off if she sees a man is taken. She was one of the few females who didn't stare at Vincent as if he were a piece of meat.
"Olivia?"
I froze as his voice flowed through the wooden door and caressed my eardrums. Even the sound of his voice made me feel as if I had butterflies in my stomach. My toes curled at a distant memory.
His hands roamed my body, getting dangerously close to the heat between my legs. I arched my back as he rubbed my sensitive core, his sharp, canines grazing against my collarbone.
"Vincent..." I moaned.
He placed a loving kiss on my lips, "You're the best thing that entered my life, please, promise me you'll never leave?"
I smiled and cupped his face, my lips gently pressed against his. When we parted, I stroked his smooth flesh.
"I promise."
"Olive, you in there?"
I closed my eyes and took a calming breath, "Yeah, come in."
What memory was that?
The wooden doors opened as he stepped in, his eyes shining with specks of gold. I frowned, concern immediately bubbled within my chest at the alarming sight.
"What happened?" I asked.
He closed the door, his back facing me as he took a deep breath. For a few minutes he didn't face me, he only stared at the door.
"Did you sleep with anyone else but Dominic?" He suddenly demanded, facing me with golden eyes.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "No, why?"
"Brayden and a few others told me you did. I'm sorry, I should trust you more."
"I understand your concern," I replied softly, my lips forming into a small smile. "But no, I was completely faithful to your brother."
He nodded, "I'm still not ready to stop apologizing for leaving you."
I frowned, for a few moments, it was silent, the only noise was our racing hearts. I swallowed, trying to wrap my mind around this.
"How did he make me forget?" I asked.
He released a breath, "That, I don't know."
"I don't understand....why didn't he just challenge you?"
"Because it would only take me ten seconds to snap his neck."
"Ten seconds?"
He shrugged, "He was never the fighter, I was. He only manipulated others, but I knew he wouldn't kill you if I left. It would weaken him."
I stared at him, my mouth slightly open, "So...you allowed me to screw my own murderer?"
"Yes and no. Now, do you understand why I'll never stop apologizing?"
"I....do you have any pictures of us together?" I asked, suddenly lacking interest about Dominic's betrayal.
He nodded, "I have a few and some videos. They helped me sleep at night and reminded me that, somewhere, I had someone who actually loved me."
I clenched my jaw as a small cry tried breaking free, "Can I see them?"
"Of course."
I sat on his bed as he pulled out a small, wooden box. When he opened it up, I clapped a hand over my mouth. Sitting on pieces of paper were all of my memories. Our memories.
Memories that Dominic stole from me.
