Chapter 19 I Killed His Mother And The Woman He Loved Most!

Seeing Astrid wake up, Sammy was relieved to sit in a chair. She picked up an apple and peeled it for her, "Don't worry, your injuries are all superficial. But to be on the safe side, I still let the doctor give you a full examination. That disgusting older man kicked you pretty hard. I'm afraid he hurt your bones!"

It made Sammy shudder when she thought of Astrid covered in blood, "How many times do I have to remind you? In our line of work, although you are noble, you still have been labelled. What do you have to be proud of? If you hadn't met Mr. Adams yesterday, I think Mr. Umber would have killed you!"

Astrid listened to Sammy's words and smiled slightly but did not say anything. She just obediently took the apple in her hand and ate it. Her frozen heart was warm, and her eyes had a sourness.

"Sammy, how long have I been hospitalized? Carrie... "Astrid suddenly thought of herself hospitalized. Then what about Carrie?

"Don't worry. I have called Rhonda. Let her help you watch Carrie in the next two days. Carrie will be fine!"

"Thank you!" Astrid’s voice quivered.

Sammy looked at Astrid on the bed, trying her best to hide her emotions. But Astrid’s long eyelashes trembled gently, giving away her inner trepidation and worry.

Sammy couldn't help but let out a small sigh. Astrid...was so strong-willed.

From the first day she met Astrid, she knew that Astrid was still able to maintain her bottom line of being a human being even if she had been in prison and fallen into despair. Her pride was innate, and no one could match her.

"Astrid, we have known each other for so long. I never ask you about your past. Now can I ask you a question?"

Astrid felt stunned, "Huh, what question?"

"What exactly was your entanglement with Blake, the man in charge of the Ledger family in Bronzewood?" She asked anyway. The last time Astrid was bullied like that by Mr. Umber, she wasn't submissive. But when it came to Blake, her attitude showed that they weren’t strangers.

"Don't want to talk about it? Or don't trust me?" Sammy saw Astrid’s expression stiffen, then smiled, "Forget it if you don't want to talk about it. No need to force yourself."

"He's my ex-husband!"

Sammy was so shocked at the faint words that the apple she was chewing fell to the ground, her eyes full of shock!

She always knew that Astrid's background was not simple, but she did not know that it would be so explosive. Would Mr. Ledger, the man of power in Bronzewood, be her ex-husband?

Astrid naturally would not be the child of ordinary families, no wonder she had lofty character.

Sammy was sure that Mr. Francis, the old fox, had already investigated Astrid when he hired her.

"Why did you divorce?"

Astrid was slightly stunned. Her eyes looked out at the bright sunshine, but it could never dispel the gloom inside her. "Because I killed his mother and the woman he loved most!"

Sammy paused and looked at Astrid for a long time. She spoke as if she was talking about someone else.

How could such a gentlewoman possibly kill someone?

She patted Astrid's shoulder, "I know it's not you."
