Ex Wins $4M, Dumps Me, Then I Pull Up in My Bugatti and Flip Him the Bird

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

The manager of my favorite luxury store texted me, letting me know they'd just gotten in a fresh batch of stock and inviting me to come check it out. With nothing else to do, I figured, why not?

As soon as I stepped inside, I spotted them, Chase and Savannah.

There was only one sales associate, and as soon as she saw me, she didn't even glance my way. She went straight back to fawning over them. Savannah was wrapped in a logo-covered outfit from last season, so predictable. Meanwhile, I was rocking a plain t-shirt and a canvas bag. No wonder the saleswoman assumed I was just another shopper who couldn't afford anything here.

Savannah was the first to notice me. "What's with the riffraff they're letting in this store?"

Chase, ever the sweetheart, jumped in with, "Harper Westbrook, what are you doing here? You can't afford anything here."

I grinned, unfazed. "Oh? Is your family running this place? Didn't realize I needed your permission to browse."

The saleswoman, sensing the drama, couldn't resist. "I'm sorry, miss, but the least expensive item here is $30,000. If you can't afford it, maybe you should come back when you can."

I couldn't help but laugh to myself. Little did she know who she was backing up.

After Savannah tried on a few bags, I overheard her telling Chase, "I want this one, and the second one in that row too."

The sales associate practically swooned. "Oh, you have such an eye for fashion! These are some of our bestsellers."

Savannah smiled smugly, slinging one of the bags over her shoulder and checking herself out in the mirror. Then, she caught sight of me.

"Harper Westbrook," she sneered, "are you seriously still carrying that cheap canvas bag? Aren't you supposed to have a job?"

I was holding a canvas bag because I had plans to hit the grocery store later. You know, trying to be eco-friendly. But whatever.

I shot back, "What's wrong with a canvas bag? Does your family live by the sea or something? Why does it bother you so much?"

Savannah huffed and turned back to Chase. "I'll take this one, that one, and... I want them all!"

Chase, trying to act generous, shrugged. "Yeah, just buy everything."

The saleswoman's face lit up like it was Christmas morning.

I picked up a sleek black handbag, eyeing it closely, when the saleswoman practically lunged at me.

"I'm sorry, miss," she said, "but this is our latest model, and it's $150,000. It's only available to our elite clients. Please don't touch it, you might get it dirty."

Savannah snickered. "Harper, don't get your grubby hands on that. You couldn't afford it even if you sold yourself."

I was about to snap back when a sharp voice sliced through the tension from the entrance.
