Chapter 5

Chapter 5

"Who said Harper can't afford it?" a voice cut through the tension.

The saleswoman's face drained of color. "M-manager, you're back!"

Amanda, the store manager, walked in and immediately turned to me, apologizing. "I'm so sorry, Harper. I went to grab your coffee, and this new employee didn't know any better."

She turned to the saleswoman, her tone sharp. "Harper is one of our elite clients. She gets first dibs on all new stock. Only after she passes on something do we offer it to other customers."

The saleswoman's face went pale as she scrambled to apologize.

Chase's face turned crimson. "You must be mistaken. Harper's just an office worker. How could she possibly be a elite client? Don't let her fool you!"

I couldn't stop myself from smiling. To be a elite client at this store? You needed to spend over $1 million a year. But clearly, Chase and his girlfriend hadn't done their homework.

Amanda's gaze hardened. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you two to leave. We're closing the store for Harper."

Savannah snorted, throwing up her hands. "I wouldn't shop here anyway! My boyfriend's got money. He can buy me whatever I want from anywhere! You're all idiots for believing some poor girl's act!" She yanked Chase out the door.

I turned to Amanda with a smirk. "I'll take the entire row of bags. Wrap them up."
