He Cries When I Stop Being Jealous

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Lucas looked like he hadn't slept in days. The moment he saw me, he rushed over, asking, "Why aren't you answering your phone or replying to my messages?"

I had purposely ignored his calls and messages.

I raised an eyebrow, "What are you doing here?"

He finally seemed to catch his breath, "I've been worried about you, Olivia. You're not answering me, and I didn't know where you were."

"I'm fine. No need to worry," I said, turning to head back into the office to grab my things.

He followed me in, "You're my wife, how can I not care?"

I didn't respond.

After I finished packing, I glanced at Dr. Harrison, who was still focused on his computer. "Dr. Harrison, is there anything else? If not, I'll head out."

Dr. Harrison gave me a quick look, "Nothing else."

I turned to leave, but Lucas was right behind me, "Olivia, are you still mad? After all this time, don't you miss me at all?"

I emphasized, "Lucas, I really am not angry anymore. Truly."

"I don't believe you," he replied, still holding that stubborn tone.

Fine, let him not believe it.

I started walking downstairs alone, but he insisted on walking with me.

I hadn't expected him to have driven all the way here, bringing a pile of luggage with him.

"Olivia, I rented an apartment here. I'm planning to stay with you," he said.

I was taken aback, "What about your job?"

"I quit," he replied, looking like he was waiting for a reaction.

Quit?

I couldn't make sense of it.

"Lucas, there's really no need for all this..."

He seemed desperate, quickly cutting me off, "Olivia, please, don't say anything. I was wrong. I get it, okay?"

He grabbed my arm, his voice sincere, "I was really wrong. I'll stay here, and I won't contact Jessica anymore, I promise."

He thought ending contact with Jessica was the solution to everything.

But even now, I understood that the issue between Lucas and me wasn't just Jessica.

She was a permanent scar on his heart that he could never erase.

"Whether you contact her or not is up to you, but you really need to think about the divorce," I told him.

I wasn't planning on getting in his car.

As I turned to walk away, he grabbed my arm again. "Olivia, please, give me another chance."

I shook off his grip, but he grabbed me again.

Not wanting to make a scene at the hospital entrance, I reluctantly got into his car.
