Chapter 11
Chapter 11
"Olivia, I bought your favorite mochi. When we get home, I'll cook for you. Are you hungry?"
"Olivia, how long are you planning to stay in this advanced training? Your mom called me too. She thinks it's time for us to have a child..."
I cut him off, "Lucas, why are you bringing up my mom?"
He pulled over to the side of the road. "Olivia, don't get divorced, okay? I just wanted Mom to talk some sense into you."
"You told my mom about the divorce?" I asked, feeling a wave of anger.
I wasn't sure why it upset me so much, but it did.
My dad passed away soon after Lucas and I got married, and now my mom's all alone back in our hometown. I'd always wanted to bring her to live with us, but Lucas refused, saying it would be inconvenient.
"Olivia..." He looked at me, "Don't be mad. How about we bring your mom here to live with us, okay?"
"Can you stop involving my mom in our problems?" I snapped, feeling frustration bubble up. It wasn't just what he'd done anymore, he'd crossed a line.
Even when he spent the night at Jessica's without coming home, I didn't care anymore. But bringing up my mom? That was too much.
"Lucas, can you stop making decisions for me?"
Before I could finish, my phone rang, it was Mom.
She knew I was planning to divorce Lucas and was so worried. I spent a long time reassuring her before finally hanging up.
Hearing her voice filled with concern, I tried to hold back my tears until the call ended.
Why had I been so foolish? I had sacrificed everything for Lucas.
"Olivia… why are you crying?" Lucas asked, his voice softening.
He reached out to wipe away my tears, but I pulled away and got out of the car.
He rushed to follow me, "Olivia, please don't cry. I'm sorry, just don't cry, okay?"
He caught up with me, "If you don't want Mom to move in, that's fine. I'll do whatever it takes, just don't cry."
He reached for me again, but I shook him off once more.
He frowned deeply, "Olivia! What do you want from me? I told you not to come, but you insisted. Don't you know I quit my job to find you? There's only so much anger I can take. I've apologized a hundred times, can't you stop being difficult?"
Even now, everything was my fault.
I couldn't deal with him anymore. I wiped away my tears and kept walking.
But he wouldn't let up. He grabbed my arm again, "Olivia…"
His grip was strong. I tried to pull away several times, but it was useless. Finally, I couldn't hold it in anymore and yelled, "Lucas, let go! Let me go!"
He wouldn't release me. "Olivia, where are you going? Come back with me…"
Just as I was about to speak again, a hand grabbed Lucas's arm, pulling it off me. "Didn't you hear her? Let go."
I looked up to see another arm, Dr. Harrison?
"Who are you? What's it to you?" Lucas growled, trying to shake off Dr. Harrison's grip.
Dr. Harrison's car was parked nearby. He stood still, watching quietly. "I'm her supervisor."
Lucas shot back, "I'm her husband."
"This is between us. An outsider like you has no right to interfere." Lucas's voice was full of hostility.
Dr. Harrison responded calmly, "Don't married couples need to respect each other?"
