Chapter27
Chapter27
Parker had gotten into her safe place and noticed all her things were still here. She still didn't remember her ninny was gone. She had been transported back to when she was 14 when the beatings first began to get bad. Her space seemed smaller but in reality she was bigger.
Jude had seen her legs going under the stairs at his grandmothers old house. A house that her uncle now lived in and wondered what the hell Parker was doing going under the stairs. Ninny always said no one was allowed under there. Jude headed over opening the door and seeing it was set up with blankets and pillows. "Fuck" Jude mumbled realising that this must be where Parker had run to when it wasn't safe for her at home.
He remembered his mother and father always going to Ninny's place or sending one of them to find Parker. Ninny always said she had not seen her, let them check the house and they never did find her. She must of known where Parker was and had set it up for her. He wondered if anyone else knew about this place. It didn't seem like it as it was dirty and smelled like it hadn't been used in years.
Parker buried herself in the pillows and threw a blanket over her head. She was sobbing but also felt herself drifting to sleep. She tried to fight it, worried that her step father would find her even though Ninny had assured her this was her space and nothing would happen to her here. No one knew that when she entered that space, the light in the room her ninny had set up as Parker's bedroom would turn on. This would alert her Ninny that Parker was here. It would mean ninny would put on cookies to bake and prepare for someone to come looking for Parker. Then ninny would spend hours with Parker making sure she knew she was safe.
No one knew that Ninny had tried to get custody of Parker, but had been denied because of her age and her health. She had begged Tamia to let Parker live with her or her aunt Cheryl so she could be safe. Tamia had swore black and blue that Parker was safe at home but ninny knew she wasn't. Her ninny blamed herself for Parker's treatment and had tried to get her uncles to see, but they had refused to see it.
The family surrounded William and Richard when they came back wanting to know where Parker was. Jaylan stood at the car horrified at himself. He couldn't even bring himself to look up when he heard people asking about Parker. "It's none of anyone's business where she is. None of you cared when she needed you, don't pretend to now because that thing ran his vile mouth" Richard boomed out heading to his car.
Richard and William wanted to drive around and search for Parker. They didn't want to be near these people who had allowed that vile man to torment Parker all her life. Leon and Tanner were in shock. "She, he god, what have we done?" Tanner asked. Leon was silently sobbing, he didn't realise how toxic his father actually was. Leon began to repeat "I'm just like him" over and over again. He hated the man who had been a decent father to him and his brothers. Why hadn't he seen how bad it was for Parker and his mother?
"You can't keep us away from Parker, she is our family" one of Parker's uncles called out as Will and Richard walked towards the car. "She wasn't your family when her grandmother was telling you about the abuse. You all allowed this. The only person Parker considers family is Cheryl, the rest of you can fuck off" Jaylan called out. He knew he let Parker down big time, but he wasn't going to allow people who had not been there for her, pretend to be family now.
"Get in the car Jaylan" Richard stated going to get in the drivers seat. Jaylan nodded and slipped into the back where he should be sitting with Parker. She had trusted him and that was so hard for him to realise. He didn't know how he would ever make it up to her for breaking her trust. He knew he had broken her trust in the worse possible way. "You hurt her" Richard stated before saying "we all hurt her, we all let her down today. We may have lost her for good". William and Jaylan nodded knowing all of them had let Parker down. They were suppose to be there for her, and yet all of them wanted Tyson to pay so much that they had forgotten about Parker.
