Chapter 14
Mystery POV
"So...you want to return her memories?" I asked, leaning against a tree.
"Yes, but I can't exactly undo what I did. She'll remember bits and pieces, but most will be blurry. They'll have to fall in love again."
"You didn't think this through, huh?"
She glanced at me, "Fuck off."
"Alright, relax," I teased as I threw my hands up in mock surrender.
"I hate you."
"Liar."
She flipped me off before turning towards the house. We silently watched over them, making sure Athos didn't bring any harm.
"Why did you do it?" She suddenly asked.
I frowned, "Do what?"
"Make Athos believe you were him?"
"Vincent was the pride and joy, he could keep the pack safe. I just needed him to grow stronger, I needed him to understand his strength. I had people watching him while he was deployed, teaching him elite moves. He's now an incredible warrior, one that our father would never get him to become. He had to leave in order to become stronger."
"So...you sacrificed your chance at happiness? For him?"
I looked down as I twirled my dagger, "You can't sacrifice your happiness when you have none."
She blew out a breath, "Did you love her?"
"I did...but it faded when a certain girl walked into my life."
"Who?"
"Oh, a witch named May. Who got drunk and failed miserably at seducing my brother."
She frowned, she was quiet as green surrounded her hand. It flashed brighter before suddenly vanishing. Silent tears rolled down her pale cheeks as she watched Olivia's memories return.
"You don't love me," she rasped before turning away from me.
I watched her return to our little camp, my dead heart breaking a little. I sighed, looking back at my favorite dagger. A beautifully made silver one, Vincent had bought it for me before he left.
"I wish you knew I was just trying to do the right thing," I murmured, glancing at the house.
Olivia POV
I screamed as the memories rushed through me, pounding through my head like a thousand galloping horses. Vincent held me close to him, trying his hardest to soothe me.
"I don't understand, why are you suddenly remembering?" He asked, kissing me on the forehead.
Tears burned my eyes as they continued to escape, "I don't know."
My body began to shake from the torture, unable to handle the agony. Then it suddenly stopped, leaving me exhausted.
"You okay?" He murmured.
I nodded, "I think so...just tired."
He kissed me once more before standing up. I didn't argue when he placed me on his bed and wrapped the quilt around me.
"Go to sleep, I'm going to do some research," he said softly.
"On what?"
"On memories, I don't—
"Vince, it's fine. It was just a lot for my brain to go through," I sighed, cutting him off.
He pursed his lips, "So...do you love me again?"
"My memory is still foggy, but I remember more. They're bits and pieces," I replied.
"Which means...?"
"I'm not completely in love, but I am falling."
"That's good enough for me."
