Chapter 28

"Athos...." Seraphina sighed as he began having another nightmare.

We were both pinning him down, well, attempting to. I caught my sister glancing at his muscles whenever he attempted to move, causing me to chuckle. She stuck her tongue out at me before focusing on Athos again, struggling to keep him relaxed. Sweat coated his face and soaked the edges of his hair, causing him to become frustrated.

"Shhhhh, I know, you're not feeling well," my sister cooed. "But you need to relax, Athos."

He began coughing again, his body shaking with each, and sharp force of air.

"This is why..." she sighed.

He was panting by the time he finished coughing, exhaustion evident on his face. Seraphina stroked his cheek before leaving to grab a nurse, hoping they could help. I remained beside him, my heart breaking as he cried in his sleep.

"I'm s—sorry," he rasped.

I looked up as Rocco and Vincent stepped in, their eyes widening when they saw how he was.

"He keeps saying he's sorry, to you," I said softly.

Rocco frowned, "I didn't know he had nightmares about that argument..."

"What argument?" Vincent questioned, sitting beside me.

Rocco released a breath and held his brother's hand, "I broke him....that night."

"What happened?"

"I confronted him about him suddenly ignoring Julie."

Rocco flashback

"This isn't her fault or mine! The goddess chose us to be mates!" I snarled.

My brother glared at me, his eyes shining with the pain I was choosing to ignore. I should stop, I know he's hurting and this is how he copes, but I can't. Our wolves were influencing us, they were both fighting for Julie.

"Well, you two certainly got comfortable rather fast!" He snapped. "Do you two have to make out in front of me?"

"We're a couple, Athos! I'm sorry we aren't always thinking of your butthurt feelings!"

I watched his jaw clench as he took a step back, "I fucking loved her, Rocco! I understand you're mates, but do you even know what she did? She killed our baby then shoved that fact in my face, because I was upset! Why are you two so fucking pissy that I'm hurting? Just let me hurt!"

"So, you threaten to take away our first child and ruin our relationship?" I sneered.

He sighed, "I was just—

"You're a monster, Athos. Don't ever come near my family or I will kill you."

"But I'm fa—

"You're not family, not anymore."

I couldn't see through my rage, I was blind to how hurt my brother was. With tear filled eyes he mumbled an apology and left.

And never came back.

I blinked, "How...."

"I know," Rocco sighed. "I had hurt him the most."
